A. Cross Obituary

Arnold Joseph "Joe" Cross, 67, of The Villages, Florida, formerly of Everett, passed away on Monday, July 4, 2011. He was born May 1, 1944 in Wheeling, West Virginia, a son of the late Arnold "Sparky" Cross, and Mary (Letzelter) Cross. On June 14, 1997, he married Barbara (Naperkoski) Cross, who survives along with his children, Lorrie White and husband Richard White, of Elizabethtown, KY Sue Miller and husband Leonard Miller, of Schellsburg Mary Ritchey and husband Chad Ritchey, of Stewartstown Michael Cross and wife Lisa, of Bridgeville Sharon Cross, of Tar Heel, NC 10 grandchildren, 3 great- grandchildren, and a brother, Charles Cross, of Wellsburg, WV. He was preceded in passing away by his first wife, Nancy Cross, in January of 1993, an infant daughter Elizabeth Cross, and infant granddaughter, Sarah Ritchey. Mr. Cross was a member of St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church in Everett, and after moving to Florida, was a member of St. Mark the Evangelist Catholic Church where he served as Past President of the Men's Guild, was a volunteer for the St. Vincent DePaul Society, served as Eucharist Minister, a Reader, and member of Small Christian Communities. For over 35 years, Joe was a special education teacher mainly with the Everett Area School District where he also coached basketball, baseball, and softball until retiring. He was also a member of the Second Honeymooners Club, Tall Trees Couples Golf League, St. Mark's Golf League, and the Hole In One Club. At home he was a caring and loving husband and father who was very proud of his time as a foster parent and will be greatly missed. Funeral services will be held Sunday, July 10, 2011 at 6:00 pm in the Chapel at Dalla Valle Funeral Service, Main Street, Everett, with Rev. Robert R. Robertson officiating. Friends may call and visit at the funeral home on Sunday from 3:00 pm until the hour of service and share memories online at www.dallavalle-everett.com. Burial will be held at Everett Cemetery.
