Alberta L. "Bert" (Swindell) Bulger

Alberta L. "Bert" Bulger, 86, of Everett, was called home to be with the Lord on Thursday, September 22nd, 2016. She was born Tuesday, June 3rd, 1930 at her family home in Ashcom, a daughter of the late Matthew I. Swindell and Della (Miller) Swindell. On May 12, 1951 in Cumberland she married Donald R. Bulger who passed away on May 18th, 2000. She is survived by their daughter, Shirl J. Rush and husband Ellis Rush, Jr. of Everett Four sons, Gary O. Shaffer and wife Angela H. Horton of Everett Dennis L. Bulger of Everett Monty D. Bulger and wife Cyndi (Foor) Bulger of Everett Jaimie L. Bulger and wife Mary (Weicht) of Everett 12 grandchildren, 10 great grandchildren a sister-in-law, Shirley Johnson of Everett, a special nephew Duane Hess of Everett and many more loving cousins, nieces, nephews and their families. In addition to her parents and husband Don, she was preceded in passing away by six sisters Mary Effland, Ruth Baker, Eva Diehl, Marcella Hess, Betty Simpson and Barbara Pharr and four brothers Harold Swindell, Donald Swindell, Fred Swindell and Matthew Swindell. Mrs. Bulger was a longtime member of the Everett Church of the Brethren where she previously served as a deaconess, a member of the Ladies Auxiliary and enjoyed working in other various church activities. A member of the Raystown Ambulance Auxiliary for many years, Bert was employed with the Everett Area School District as a Homeroom Mother for children with special needs at the elementary school and as a server in the lunchroom at the high school. She also worked as a cashier at the Dollar General in Everett, was a waitress and helped with daily operations at the Corral Drive-In Restaurant in Everett, worked as a housekeeper at H.C. Sleighter & Sons Furniture Store, and was a housekeeper and laundress for several local families. Always active in her community and church, Bert will be remembered for the love she shared with her family, church family and friends and her fun loving ways. Funeral services will be held Monday, September 26th, 2016 in the Chapel at Dalla Valle Funeral Service, Main Street, Everett, with Pastor Eric Henderson and Chaplain Bruce Maxwell officiating. Friends may call at the funeral home on Sunday from 4:00 to 8:00 pm, on Monday from 10:00 am until the hour of service and share memories online at www.dallavalle-everett.com. Burial will be held at Bethel Brethren Cemetery, Tatesville.
