Bertha M. Felten, 93, of Breezewood was called home to be with the Lord on Tuesday, September 30th, 2014. She was born Monday, February 28th, 1921 in Conemaugh, Somerset County, a daughter of the late Albert Fischer and Melinda Jane (Deneen) Fischer. On March 5th, 1941 in Tennessee, she married Jesse L. Felten, Jr., who passed away on August 26th, 1987. She is survived by their son, E. Veryl Felten and wife Theresa (Foor) Felten, of Breezewood, a granddaughter Natasha Felten, at home, and numerous other grandchildren, nieces, nephews and their families. In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in passing away by two sisters, Grace Lynch and Virgie Decker, six brothers, Clem Fischer, James Fischer, Raymond Fischer, Ellwood Fischer, Louis Fischer, and Arthur Fischer and a step grandson Dimitrios Foor. Mrs. Felten was devoted to attending Church every Sunday, and was a member of the Breezewood United Methodist Church, and while living in Bedford, attended the Calvary Baptist Church. Earlier in her lifetime, she and her husband Jesse owned and operated Feltens Inn located east of Breezewood on the Lincoln Highway, and after selling the inn, Bertha was employed as a waitress at the Family House Restaurant in Breezewood until retiring. At home she enjoyed cooking, baking and reading her bible, and was truly dedicated to her family and friends. With a good hot meal on the table, you were always welcome at her home and she will be greatly missed for her loving and caring ways. Private funeral services will be held by her family. Burial will be held at Amaranth Church of the Brethren Cemetery.
