Beryl Weist Obituary
Beryl Elizabeth Weist, 98, of Everett, was called home to be with the Lord on Thursday, January 9th, 2020.
She was born Sunday, January 8th, 1922 at her family home in Finleyville, Broad Top Township, a daughter of the late Custer Hedges and Elnora (Foor) Hedges.
On February 4th, 1939 she married John Blaine Weist who passed away on June 17th, 1988. She is survived by their children,
John A. Weist and wife Linda (Hammond) Weist of Everett,
Hazel W. Laidig and husband Raymond P. Laidig of Everett,
8 Grandchildren, 15 Great-Grandchildren, 6 Great-Great-Grandchildren,
a sister in law Shirley Hedges of Round Top, and many loving nieces, nephews and their families.
In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in passing away by a daughter Mary Margaret Colledge and husband Arnold, a granddaughter Lisa Diane Weist, and sisters and brother, Helen Swope and husband Robert, Rene Foor and husband Clair, Alma Jean Singer and husband Pete, and Rodney Hedges.
Mrs. Weist was a member of the Mt. Chapel Brethren in Christ Church for over 40 years were she gladly participated in church activities.
After her marriage to John, she was a dedicated homemaker who along with her husband, operated their own "gentleman's farm," tending to the livestock, and she loved planting and growing her own garden, making jelly and canning.
Not being one to sit still, once her children were grown a bit and active, Beryl began working as a housekeeper at the Sunset Hill Motel in Breezewood and then at the Howard Johnson Motel in Breezewood. A loving wife, mother, grandmother and sister, she will be remembered for her love of her family and the time they shared together.
Funeral service will be Monday, January 13th, 2020 at 11:00 am at Mt. Chapel Brethren in Christ Church with Pastor Ron Hott officiating. Friends may call at Dalla Valle Funeral Service, Main Street, Everett on Sunday from 4:00 to 8:00 pm and at the church on Monday from 10:00 am until the hour of service and share memories online at www.dallavalle-everett.com.
Burial will be held at Graceville Lutheran Cemetery. As an expression of sympathy instead of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in memory of Beryl to the Mt. Chapel BIC Church, 1164 Mt. Chapel Road, Breezewood, PA 15533.
