Betty Bowser Obituary

Betty L. Bowser, 88, of Everett, was called home to be with the Lord on Monday, September 1, 2014. She was born Friday, February 5th, 1926 at her family home in Hickory Bottom, Curryville, a daughter of the late Harry Forshey and Elva P. (King) Forshey. On October 4th, 1947 in Cypher, she married James C. Bowser, Sr., who passed away on August 30th, 1977. She is survived by their children, Harry R. Bowser and wife Deana (Teeters) Bowser, of Fishertown James C. Bowser, Jr. and wife Brenda (Perrin) Bowser, of Saxton Kenneth W. Bowser and wife Cathy (Rettburg) Bowser, of Waterside Kathleen Eshelman and husband Francis Eshelman, of Everett Twelve grandchildren, Brian Bowser, Harry James Bowser, Eric Bowser, Todd Bowser, Mark Bowser, Kendra Pritchet, Justin Bowser, Jared Bowser, Steven Foor, Chris Eshelman, Kevin Eshelman, and Theresa (Eshelman) Smith Eight great-grandchildren and a brother-in-law James Morgan of Everett. In addition to her parents and husband Jim, she was preceded in passing away by a sister Gladys (Forshey) Morgan. Mrs. Bowser was a devoted member of the Everett Church of the Brethren and was a graduate of Woodbury High School, Class of 1944. After her marriage to Jim, together they owned and operated the Winding River Valley Farm in Cypher Beach from 1947 until their retirement in 1973 then moving to Everett. At her home on the farm, she took care of her father-in-law until his passing. After retiring, Betty worked as a volunteer at the Everett Free Library for three years, was a cook at Kelly's Scenic View Restaurant and served on the Everett Borough Election Board for twelve years. At home she enjoyed reading, cooking, and like many of us, could never pass up her sweets. She grew and sold plants from her back porch, would help anyone who asked with sewing alterations, having made a few custom wedding dresses, and also help her friend Ann at Berneice's gift shop in Everett. Betty will be remembered as a loving person who quietly put the needs of others before herself. Funeral services will be held Saturday, September 6th, 2014 at 11:00 am at the Everett Church of the Brethren with Pastor Beverly Swindell officiating. Friends may call at the Church on Friday from 6:00 to 9:00 pm, again on Saturday at the Church from 10:00 am until the hour of service, and share memories online at www.dallavalle-everett.com. Burial will be held at Everett Cemetery.
