Betty L. (Fletcher) Cornell

Betty L. Cornell, 77, of Clearville was called home to be with the Lord on Monday, September 5, 2011. She was born January 27, 1934 in Cumberland, a daughter of the late Merle Fletcher and Ethel (Fetters) Fletcher. She is survived by her children, James C. Cornell, and wife Bonnie (May) Cornell, of Bedford John D. Cornell, and wife Carrol (Bowman) Cornell, of Mont Alto Judy K. Alexander, and husband Marcellus Alexander, of Clearville Joseph W. Cornell, of Fort Smith, Arkansas 5 grandchildren, Casey Downey, Carey Alexander, Corey Alexander, Michelle Cornell, and Katie Cornell 4 great grandchildren, Kaylee, Alyssa, Hunter and Jakobi and a sister, Dorothy M. Mayer, of Fayetteville She was preceded in passing away by a daughter Janice Cornell. Mrs. Cornell attended the El Bethel Assembly of God Church in Chaneysville and was a graduate of Everett Southern Joint High School Class of 1951. After graduation, she was a homemaker who enjoyed raising her children and caring for her family. She also worked as a cook at the Corner News Stand in Everett, and was a school bus driver for Chuck and Freda Hammond for over 30 years until retiring from the Everett Area School District where she was employed as a district custodian. At home Betty enjoyed listening to country music, studying genealogy so she would know and share her family history, was an avid National Association for Stock Car Auto Racing fan (NASCAR) and also collecting decorative cow ornaments. She was a loving mother, grandmother, great grandmother, sister and friend who enjoyed telling a good story and will be greatly missed. Funeral services will be held Saturday, September 10, 2011 at 1:00 pm in the Chapel at Dalla Valle Funeral Service, Main Street, Everett, with Rev. Vincent D. Smith officiating. Friends may call at the funeral home on Saturday from 11:00 am until the hour of service and share memories online at www.dallavalle-everett.com. Burial will be held at Frame Cemetery.
