Betty Rohm Obituary

Betty J. Rohm, 94, of Duncansville, was called home to be with the Lord on Sunday, May 29th, 2016, with her family at her side. She was born Monday, November 7th, 1921 at her family home on Shaffer Mountain Road, Napier Township, a daughter of the late William James Shaffer and Stella Pearl (Miller) Shaffer. On November 8th, 1948 in Greenwood, Logan Township, she married Clayton Benson "Ben" Rohm who passed away on November 24th, 1997. She is survived by their children, Benita J. Rohm-Monsanto of Grosse Pointe, Michigan, Brian S. Rohm of Duncansville, 3 brothers-in-law, Richard "Dick" Rohm of Sebring, Florida, Fred Rohm of Port Charlotte, Florida, Jerry Veach and wife Joy of Jacksonville, Florida, 3 nieces, Marjorie (Keifer) Hyde of Martinsburg, Beverly J. (Saylor) Dalla Valle and husband Auggie of Everett, Faye (Shaffer) Rose of Glen Burnie, Maryland, A nephew Bobby Shaffer and wife Patsy of Schellsburg, 6 great nieces and nephews, Fred C. Hyde, and wife Susan M. (Wentling) Hyde, of Mars Roxanne B. (Keifer) Felts of Norristown, James R. "J.R." Keifer, and wife Mary Ann (Foor) Keifer, of Bedford K. Lynne (Dalla Valle) Hainsey of Fredericksburg, Virginia, Brenda J. (Dalla Valle) Truax of Dumfries, Virginia, Scott O. Dalla Valle and Jolene Mallow Dalla Valle of Everett, and many more loving nieces, nephews, great and great-great nieces and nephews, cousins and their families. In addition to her husband Ben, she was preceded in death by a son-in-law Raphael "Ray" Monsanto, 3 sisters, Beatrice E. Keifer Huffman, Geraldine C. Blackburn and Bernice M. Saylor, a brother Edward J. Shaffer, 3 nephews, Ronnie Shaffer, Edward J. Shaffer, Jr, and James L. "Jimmy" Keifer. and 2 great nieces, infant Kelly Lynne Hyde and Sherry D. Hyde. Mrs. Rohm was a member of the Duncansville Evangelical Lutheran Church. She was an excellent seamstress, who, by hand or machine, would created beautiful clothing, draperies and home items for her family and friends. She was talented with crocheting, quilting and embroidery, even your pillow case had a touch of her style. Keeping a beautiful home inside and out, with a picturesque lawn and gardens, both flower and vegetable, were everyday activities for her and her family. A devoted wife and mother who loved and cared for all of her family, Betty will be remembered for her strength, direction and the unique wit she shared with us all. Funeral services will be held Sunday, June 5th, 2016 at 1:00 pm in the Chapel at Dalla Valle Funeral Service, Main Street, Everett, with Rev. Curtis Bryant officiating. Friends and family may call at the funeral home on Saturday from 4:00 to 8:00 pm, on Sunday from 11:00 am until the hour of service and share memories online at www.dallavalle-everett.com. Burial will be held at Schellsburg Cemetery.
