Betty Snyder Obituary

Betty J. Snyder, 94, of Victoria House, Everett, PA, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, August 28, 2024. Born in Everett, PA on August 25, 1930, she was the beloved daughter of Simon Grimes, Sr. and Edna (O'Shell) Grimes.

On May 22, 1953, she married Harry A. Snyder, Sr., in Winchester, VA. They shared 52 years together until Harry's passing on June 2, 2005.

Betty is survived by her loving children: Denise Jay (Larry), Mark Snyder (Donna), Brent Snyder and Harry Snyder, Jr. She was a proud grandmother to Ryan Jay, Krista Jay, Jason Snyder, and Jennifer Morrow (Josh), and a cherished great-grandmother to Hunter Jay, Jalissa Snyder, Oliver Snyder, Quinton Morrow, Isaiah Morrow, and Malachi Morrow.

One of eleven children, Betty is also survived by the following siblings: Richard (Dick) Grimes, Janet Triplett (Joseph), Robert (Bob) Grimes, James (Jim) Grimes (Sylvia), Beverly Diehl (Garvin), Janie Pittman (Gregory, and Gregory (Greg) Grimes.

She was predeceased by her daughter-in-law, Betty (Diehl) Snyder (Mark), and siblings: Simon (Sid) Grimes, Jr., Charlotte Brown, and Nancy Pepple. Additionally, she was predeceased by her sisters-in-law, Betty Grimes (Richard), Larue Grimes (Robert), Velma Grimes (Sid), and brothers-in-law, Roy Pepple (Nancy), Bill Brown (Charlotte), and Joseph (Joe) Triplett (Janet).

A graduate of Bedford High School, Betty furthered her education at Catherman's Business School. She began her career as a secretary in N. Carolina before returning to Bedford County. After her marriage to Harry, she worked at Everett Milk & Ice Cream and later joined him in his insurance agency until her retirement.

Betty and Harry shared a love of travel, particularly in their motor home, visiting all continental states after Harry's retirement in 1994. These adventures created many treasured memories, and new friendships. Betty faithfully attended the Bethel Church of the Brethren, Plank Road, Everett, PA, where her faith and kindness touched many lives. Betty's warmth and dedication to her family, will be missed by all who knew her.

A service to celebrate Betty's life will be held on Wednesday, September 4, 2024, at Bethel Church of The Brethren, Plank Rd., Everett, PA. Visitors will be welcomed from 1 :00 PM until time of the service at 3:00 PM. Private burial at St. Paul's Cemetery, aka Yellow Creek Reformed Cemetery, Hopewell, PA.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to The Bethel Church of The Brethren in care of Mrs. Jenny Steele, 1634 E. Cypher Rd., Hopewell, PA 16650.
