Betty L. (Way) Whisel

Betty L. Whisel, 87, of Everett, recently of Donahoe Manor, was called home to be with our Lord on Monday, December 31st, 2012. She was born Wednesday, August 12, 1925 in Fishertown, a daughter of the late Roy T. Way and Lillian (Miller) Way. On November 15th, 1952 in Winchester, Virginia, she married Robert C. Whisel who passed away on September 5th, 2002. She is survived by their children, Michael A. Way of Pottstown, and Robert J. Whisel and wife Lisa (Calhoun) Whisel, of Everett 6 grandchildren, 7 great grandchildren a daughter in law, Amy N. Whisel of Dallastown a son in law Joseph Rose, of Everett 2 sisters, Laura Corle and husband Warren, of Imler Mary Henderson and husband Bud, of Osterburg 2 brothers, Roy T. "Junior" Way, Jr. and wife Virginia, of Bedford, and Sammy Way of Fishertown. She was preceded in passing away by a daughter Suzanne Rose in December of 2004, a son Charlie Whisel in December of 2000, and a daughter in law Eileen (Scott) Whisel in October of 2012. Mrs. Whisel was member the former Trinity United Church of Christ in Everett, working at the Church's Thrift Shop on Main Street, and with her children, faithfully attended the First Christian Church of Everett. Early in her lifetime, Betty worked with the Shopper's Guide in Everett as an inserter, placing the weekly advertisements into the newspaper. After her marriage to Bob, she was a dedicated wife, mother and homemaker who's "kids kept her busy..." and enjoyed spending time with her family and grandchildren. She was an avid reader, reading the newspaper out loud to her husband Bob when he could no longer read it himself, and also was a caretaker for Mrs. Mary Horton. Betty enjoyed working crossword puzzles, word searches and making an occasional trip to Sponsler's Superette for a treat for herself, and will be greatly missed for her patient manner, the smile on her face, and her caring ways. Funeral services will be held Friday, January 4th, 2013 at 11:00 am in the Chapel at Dalla Valle Funeral Service, Main Street, Everett, with Rev. Robert R. Robertson officiating. Friends may call at the funeral home on Thursday from 4:00 to 8:00 pm, of Friday from 10:00 am until the hour of service and share memories online at www.dallavalle-everett.com. Burial will be held at Bedford County Memorial Park.
