Charles R. "Charlie" Dick, 92, of Colonial Courtyard at Bedford, a lifelong resident of Everett, was called home to be with the Lord on Monday, August 5th, 2013. He was born Wednesday, June 1st, 1921 at his family home in Pine Hill, Somerset County, a son of the late Alex Dick and Eva (Preslipski) Dick. On September 10th, 1942 in Winchester, Virginia, he married Grace M. (Ritchey) Dick who passed away on May 8th, 2004. He is survived by four grandchildren who he raised as his own, Veronica Gimber, of Harrisonville Gidgit Corle, and husband Howard Corle, of New Paris Robert Dick and wife Teaa, of Florida Julie Carson and husband Tony Carson, of Austintown, Ohio a grandson, Ronald C. "Chip" Dick, II of Wells Tannery a daughter in law, Debra (Seville) Dick, of McConnellsburg a sister Helen Dick-Batol, of Martinsburg a brother George Dick and wife Sydney, of Saxton and many loving great grandchildren, great great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews and their families. In addition to his wife and parents, he was preceded in passing away by a son Ronald C. Dick in September of 2010, infant twin brothers Peter and Paul, an infant brother Joey, an infant sister Eva, two sisters Mary Peterson and Anna Dick, and four brothers, Harry Dick, John Dick and twin brothers Michael Dick and Nicholas Dick. Charlie was a graduate of Wood Township High School, Robertsdale, Class of 1942, also working as a miner with Rock Hill Coal Company while attending high school. He then served in the United States Army during World War II as a Private First Class locomotive fireman with Company C 115th Infantry 29th Division in the European Theater, receiving the Good Conduct Medal, the American Theater Service Medal, the EAME Theater Service Medal with one Bronze Star and the World War II Victory Medal. After returning home from his service to our country, Charlie began his career with United States Steel in Fairless Hills, Philadelphia, where he worked until retiring. He was a 50 year member of the Free & Accepted Masons of Pennsylvania, first as a member of the Bristol Lodge #25 F&AM in Northern Philadelphia, and then was a member of the Everett Lodge #524, F&AM since 1989. He enjoyed spending time as a volunteer, socializing with other veterans at his local VA hospital, was a fireman for the Fairless Hills Fire Company, and was a member of the Everett American Legion Post #8, the Everett VFW Post #2088, the Disabled American Veterans, and the 40 et 8 (The Society of Forty Men and Eight Horses.) At home he enjoyed gardening, spending time with his family, especially with his grandchildren, and will be greatly missed for his laughter and the jokes (some homemade) that he shared with so many of us. Funeral services will be held Saturday, August 10, 2013 at 11;00 am in the Chapel at Dalla Valle Funeral Service, Main Street, Everett, with Reverend Curtis Bryant officiating. Friends may call at the funeral home on Friday from 4:00 to 8:00 pm, on Saturday from 10:00 am until the hour of service and share memories online at www.dallavalle-everett.com. Burial will be held at Asbury Cemetery. Full military honors will be conducted by the Everett Honor Guard, and the Everett Lodge #524, F&AM will conduct services at the funeral home Friday at 7:30 pm. memorial contributions may be made in memorial of Charlie to the Breezewood Volunteer Fire Company, P.O.
