Charles A. Karns, 87, of Everett, was called home to be with the Lord on Friday, June 8, 2012. He was born Friday, October 17, 1924 at his family home in West Providence Township, a son of the late Albert J. Karns and Clara P. (Pittman) Karns. On November 12, 1946 he married Evelyn O. (O'Neal) Karns who survives along with their children, Fred C. Karns, and wife Linda (Hess) Karns, of Mattie, Bonnie L. Ruby and husband Kenny Ruby, of Flintstone, Dennis L. Karns, an wife De A. (Goldizen) Karns, of Everett 3 sisters, Helen Dickinson, of Rays Cove Mildred Busick, of Saxton Patty Foster, and husband Harry, of Hopewell, a brother, James Ralph Karns and wife Lou (Foor) Karns, of Hopewell, 5 granddaughter, Kelly, Christa, Rebecca, Melissa, and Jeannie 4 grandsons, Travis, Garrick, Braden, and Charles, a 25 great grandchildren. He was preceded in passing away by infant twin siblings and two brothers in law, Clair Dickinson and Fred Busick. Mr. Karns was a member of the Clear Creek Brethren in Christ Church for nearly 50 years. In his early years he worked with his family at their farm in West Providence Township, and after his marriage to Evelyn, was employed with Pittsburgh Silica Sand Company at the Tatesville quarry crushing rock into sand. "Pap", as he was known to family and friends, then worked for the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania at road construction, was employed with Gerald Clark Well Drilling in Everett and then worked as a timber grader and helped with the daily operations at Everett Hardwood Lumber Company until retiring. He enjoyed hunting in all seasons, attending antique shows and blue grass festivals with his brother James, and playing his harmonica. Pap truly enjoyed spending time with his children, grandchildren and great grandchildren, and will be greatly missed by his family, friends, and friends at Pennknoll Village for his smile and a wink that let you know everything will be just fine. Funeral services will be held Monday, June 11, 2012 at 11:00 am at the Chapel at Dalla Valle Funeral Service, Main Street, Everett, with Pastor John Guyer officiating. Friends may call at the funeral home on Sunday from 4:00 to 8:00 pm, on Monday from 10:00 am until the hour of service and share memories online at www.dallavalle-everett.com. Burial will be held at Bedford County Memorial Park.
