Charles Rizak Obituary

Charles "Charlie" Rizak, 85, of Crystal Spring, passed away on Thursday, January 3rd, 2013. He was born January 27th, 1927 at his family home in Berlin, Somerset County, a son of the late Nicholas Rizak and Katheryn (Sufco) Rizak. On November 28th, 1958 in Winchester, Virginia, he married Theresa (Trebonyak) Rizak who survives along with their children, Mary K. Walls, and husband John Walls, of Churchton, Maryland Diane L. Rizak, of Elkridge, Maryland Daniel C. Rizak and wife Kathleen, of Monrovia, Maryland 5 grandchildren, Danielle, Ashley, Charles Nicholas, Anastasia, and Nicole and 2 sisters, Anna Stongosky and husband George of West Richfield, Ohio, and Stella Condon and husband Jack, of Florida. He was preceded in passing away by 2 brothers Nicolas Rizak and Eugene Rizak. Mr. Rizak was a member of St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church in Everett and was previously a member of St. Mary's Russian Orthodox Church in Central City. He was a graduate of Shade Township High School, Class of 1944, and then attended the Virginia Military Institute, serving in the United States Army Air Force during World War II as a Private First Class, B-24 Airplane and Engine Specialist, and was a member of the Everett American Legion Post #8. After returning home from his military service, Charlie attended school to learn bricklaying, and for 60 years, was a member of Bricklayers Union Local #1 in Suitland, Maryland until retiring to Crystal Spring. He loved the countryside and was a country boy at heart who enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren, since playing with the kids always came first. He liked taking walks through the woods near his home, and traveling with his wife Theresa, visiting over 20 countries worldwide. Always willing to lend a hand and no job was too rough for him to handle, Charlie will be greatly missed for his caring and adventurous ways. Mass of the Christian Burial will be held Tuesday, January 8th, 2013 at 11:00 am at St. John The Evangelist Catholic Church in Everett, with Rev. Richard B. Tomkosky officiating. Friends may call at Dalla Valle Funeral Service, Main Street, Everett, on Monday from 4:00 to 8:00 pm, on Tuesday from 10:00 am until departure for the Church, and share memories online at www.dallavalle-everett.com. Burial will be held at Daley Cemetery, Central City. Memorial contributions may be made in memory of Charlie to the Community Nursing and Home Health, Inc., attention Hospice, 311 Hospital Drive, Everett, PA 15537.
