Claude E. Fogelsanger

Claude Edwin Fogelsanger, 89, of Clearville, was called home to be with the Lord on Wednesday, September 20, 2017, with family at his side. He was born Friday, July 20th, 1928 in Parnassus, Westmoreland County, a son of the late Harper Edwin Fogelsanger and Hazel Lenore (Venatta) Fogelsanger, and was marred to Elizabeth Ellen (Worthington) Fogelsanger who preceded him in passing away. He is survived by their daughter, Cynthia F. Cosey and husband John R. Cosey, Eight grandchildren, Amanda E. Cosey, Samuel Z. Cosey, Matthew L. Cosey, Eli J. Cosey, Brayden A. Kline, Zachery M. Kline, Joel R. Fogelsanger, Danielle L. Fogelsanger, And a brother Walter R. Fogelsanger. In addition to his parents and wife, he was preceded in passing away by a son Mark Scott Fogelsanger. Mr. Fogelsanger was a member of the King Street Church in Chambersburg and the Glendale Church of the Brethren in Flintstone. After graduating from Shippensburg High School, Claude enlisted in the United States Army serving in the European Theater, specifically field artillery in Germany. After his service to our country, he returned home working in various managerial positions with Acme Markets, Inc., and then was employed at Letterkenney Army Depot with the U.S. Army Depot System Command (DESCOM) where he worked as a computer systems analyst until retiring. Always involved in charity work, Claude also served as a past president of the Chambersburg Humane Society, past president of the Scotland Community Association and past president of the Greenvillage Community Association. While living in Shade Gap, he delighted in working his small farm where he raised chickens, sheep, goats and geese; and later moved to Clearville to spend more time with his family and will always be remembered for his willingness to share his time and energy in service of others.
