Dale W. "Smittie" Smith

Dale W. Smith, 67, of Munzenberg, Germany, passed away on Monday, September 19, 2011. He was born September 25, 1943 at the Everett Hospital, a son of the late Paul E. Smith and Freda V. (Crawford) Smith. He was first married to Irma (Reul) Smith, of Frankfort Germany, and then married to Heidi (Hocker) Smith, who survives along with their children, 3 daughters, Sylvia, Peggy, and Cindy 2 step children, Michael and Jessica a granddaughter and a grandson 2 sister in law, Cheryl Smith of Artemas and Diana Smith, of Little Orleans, MD 2 sons in law 4 sisters, Leona Trail, of Breezewood Rosalie Whitmer, of Clearville Deloris Miller, of Artemas Diana Moyer, of Clearville And a brother Paul Scott Smith, of Artemas and many loving nieces and nephews. He was preceded in passing away by 2 brothers, Guy Smith and Larry Smith, and grandparents Talbert J. Smith and Grace Pearl (Bennett) Smith. After high school, Dale enlisted in the United States Army where he served as a motor pool mechanic for heavy equipment during the Vietnam War. After service to his country, Dale began working as a linesman for telephone communications, and after returning to Germany, worked manufacturing automotive part. He was a home handyman who enjoyed help his friends and other folks in his community with their projects, and delivered newspapers with his wife for the Munzenberg News, and enjoyed gardening, traveling home to the States to visit with family, and was a loving, husband, father, grandfather and brother who will be greatly missed. A memorial service will be held on September 28, 2011 in Munzenburg.
