Dexter R. Beck, 87, of Chaneysville, was called home to be with the Lord on Sunday, May 7th, 2017. He was born Sunday, December 8th, 1929 at his family home in Southampton Township, a son of the late Harry E. Beck and Beulah M. (Miller-Bennett) Beck. On July 12th, 1952 in Flintstone, Maryland, he married Eleanor D. (Shreve) Beck who passed away on January 2nd, 2009. He is survived by their children, Rhonda Husick and husband Rodney Husick of Hopewell, Terry Beck and wife Stacy Beck of Flintstone, Tanya Newrone and companion Bruce Coley of Chaneysville, Dennis Beck of Chaneysville, Seven grandchildren, Michael Husick of Hopewell, Tyler Beck and wife Brandi of Rockville, Maryland, Alyse Beck of Pocahontas, Somerset County, Brooke McCoy of Ridgeley, West Virginia, Katie Blume of Frostburg, Brandi Heaton and husband Jim of Atwater, Ohio, Wayne Huffman, Jr., of Tampa, Florida, Four great-grandchildren, Adalyn, Emory Nicole, Alayna and Colin, A sister Betty O. Davis of Cumberland, Maryland, and two brothers, Delmer Beck of Scranton and Daris M. Beck and wife Karen (Cogan) Beck of Bedford. In addition to his parents and wife he was preceded in passing away by six brothers, Harold Beck, Denver M. Thompson, Eldon E. Beck, Montre L. Beck, J. Austin Beck and Louis T. Beck. Mr. Beck attended church with his wife Eleanor at Chaneysville Community Church. He served in the United States Army as a Private First Class from November of 1948 to January of 1950 and later was employed at the Chaneysville-Cove Elementary School as a custodian until retiring. In his younger years Dexter enjoyed hunting, and spending time outdoors, being with his family and friends, and will be remembered for his welcoming ways, having never met a stranger, and for the kindness he shared with so many.
