Donald F. "Pickle" Diehl

Donald F. "Pickle" Diehl, 69, of Bedford, passed away on Tuesday, April 25th, 2017. He was born Wednesday, March 3rd, 1948 in Everett, a son of the late Francis H. Diehl and Regina (Henderson) Diehl. He was married to Sandra J. Diehl of Bedford, who survives along with their children, Kevin Diehl of Bedford, Jodi Wilt and husband Tom Wilt of Breezewood, Craig Diehl and wife Michel Diehl of Cumberland, Three grandchildren, Joshua Millin of Bedford, Zachary Millin and wife Jamie of Everett, Jacob Diehl of Cumberland Two great grandchildren Lorraine Millin and Kennedy Millin, both at home of Everett, and a sister, Germaine R. Smith of Everett. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in passing away by a brother Barry L. Diehl. Don attended the Wolfsburg United Methodist Church and was a graduate of Everett Southern Joint High School, Class of 1966. He enlisted in the United States Navy after graduation serving as a Seaman E-3 on the USS Juneau, transporting troops and aircraft for the war effort in Vietnam, receiving the National Defense Service Medal, and was a member of the Everett American Legion Post #8. He was employed with New Enterprise Stone and Lime Company as an asphalt paving equipment operator and a fuel truck driver for 25 years until retiring. After retiring, Don enjoyed his part time work with M&M Janitorial in Bedford, keeping himself busy helping others while not missing being with his family at home. He was an avid NASCAR racing fan, enjoyed fishing local rivers and taking care of his lawn and will be truly missed. Funeral services will be held Saturday, April 29th, 2017 at 2:00 pm in the Chapel at Dalla Valle Funeral Service, Main Street, Everett, with Pastor Beth Pyles officiating. Friends may call at the funeral home on Friday from 4:00 to 8:00 pm, on Saturday from 1:00 pm until the hour of service and share memories online at www.dallavalle-everett.com. Burial will be held at Everett Cemetery with full Military Honors by the Everett Honor Guard.
