Donald Lashley Obituary

Donald S. Lashley, 90, of Everett, was called home to be with the Lord on Wednesday, June 5th, 2013. He was born June 5th, 1923 at Dr. Sipes Hospital in Everett, a son of the late Oscar S. Lashley and Nettie (Shaffer) Lashley. In July of 1956 he married Dora L. (Bennett) Lashley who passed away on August 9th, 2002. He is survived by their daughter Susan D. Bonner, of Everett and fiancé Brian Burkholder, of Everett; and a grandson Josh Bonner, of Everett. In addition to his wife, he was preceded in passing away by a son Jeff Lashley and a son in law Gary Bonner. Mr. Lashley was a member of the Everett United Methodist Church, a graduate of Everett High School Class of 1941 and a graduate of Catherman's Business School in Cumberland. He served in the United States Army during World War II as a Technician 5th Grade with the 531st Quartermaster Salvage Repair Company in the European and Asiatic Pacific Theaters, receiving the Good Conduct Medal, the American Theater Service Medal, the Asiatic Pacific Theater Service Medal, the European, African and Middle Eastern Service Medal with one Bronze Star and the World War II Victory Medal. After returning home from his service to our country, Don began working for Albert Barkman at Barkman's Garage in Everett, later driving truck for John Caro. He then owned and operated Bedford County Beverage in Everett, selling the store in 1970 when he began his new position as store manager for over 30 years at Miller Auto Parts in Everett until retiring. After retiring, Don lent a hand at Ever-Breeze Auto Sales and was a van driver for Genevieve Beegle transporting MHMR clients to their activities and appointments.. He was a 60 year member of the Everett American Legion Post #8, a member of the Everett Volunteer Fire Company, the Everett VFW Post #2088 and the Improved Order of the Redman Wambic Tribe #507, and was a home handyman who enjoyed working outdoors, spending time with his children and grandson, and will be remembered by his family and many friends for being good to everyone he knew. Private services will be held by the family and memories may be shared online at www.dallavalle-everett.com. Memorial contributions may be made in memory of Don to you charity of choice..
