Donna Dicken Obituary

Donna L. Dicken, 82, or Everett, was called home to be with the Lord on Thursday, April 11, 2013 . She was born Saturday, March 21st, 1931 at her family home in Everett, a daughter of the late Roy A. Conner and Mary Helen "Bequeath) Conner. On October 25th, 1950 in Cumberland Maryland she married Eugene "Sonny" Dicken who passed away on December 24th, 2010. She is survived by a sister, Linda D. Border, and husband Thomas "Ted" Border, of South Carolina Two Brothers, Gary L. "Gus" Conner and wife Wanda (Colledge) Conner, of Breezewood Michael L. Conner and wife Susan (Duvall) Conner of Everett 2 sisters in law, Cheryl Dicken, of Everett, and Mary Dicken, and husband Donald, of Clearville And many loving cousins, nieces, nephews and their families from both the Conner and Dickens' sides of her family. She was preceded in passing away by five sisters, Sara Jane, Mary Anne, May Joyce, Shirley Kay King, and Peggy J. Markham, Eight brothers, Robert Conner, Richard Conner, Edward Conner, Wayne Conner, David Conner, Karl Conner, Timothy Conner, Jerry Conner, and a nephew Christopher Conner. Mrs. Dicken was a lifetime and active member of the Everett Church of the Brethren where she served as a Sunday School teacher for many years, also serving as Church treasurer and was a member of the women's auxiliary. She was a graduate of Everett High School, Class of 1948, and after graduation began working as a waitress at Gene's Place in Everett, now Kelly's Scenic View Restaurant, where she met her husband to be, Sonny. She then worked as a presser at Lion Manufacturing in Everett until her and Sonny opened and began operation of Dickens Grocery Store on 5th Avenue in Everett, and then worked at the Everett Area High School as a cashier in the cafeteria until retiring in 1978. At home she enjoyed sewing, working on crafts, crocheting and bowling and playing cards with her family and friends, and was a loving wife, sister, aunt and friend who will be remembered for her caring and giving ways that enhanced the lives of so many. Funeral services will be held Monday, April 15th, 2013 at 11:00 am at the Everett Church of the Brethren with Rev. Frank Ramirez officiating. Friends may call at Dalla Valle Funeral Service, Main Street, Everett on Sunday from 4:00 pm to 8:00 pm, at the Church on Monday from 10:00 am until the hour of service and share memories online at www.dallavalle-everett.com. Burial will be held at Union Memorial Cemetery. Along with flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Everett Church of the Brethren, 119 East Second Street, Everett or to the Everett Happy Senior Citizens, 101 West Main Street, Everett.
