Donna W. Klahre, 86, of The Village at Morrisons Cove, Martinsburg, Pennsylvania, a retirement village, passed away on Sunday, July 12th, 2020, at her home.
She was born, May 1st, 1934 in Windber, Pennsylvania, the daughter of the late Walter Wingard and Irene (Frye) Wingard.
On October 6th, 1956, in New Paris, Pennsylvania, Donna married Glenn D. Klahre, who passed away on August 10th, 2006.
She is survived by their children, Michael Klahre and wife Maria (Tulley) Klahre of Alma, Michigan, and Kathy Arbogast and husband Gary Arbogast of Whitehall, Pennsylvania,
Mrs. Klahre is also survived by a brother Harold Wingard and wife Marie (Royce) Wingard of Fishertown, Pennsylvania, and 5 grandchildren; Christina Klahre and Glenn Klahre of Alma, Michigan; Ian Klahre of Grand Rapids, Michigan; James Arbogast of Washington, DC; and Cory Arbogast of Fairfax, Virginia.
In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by a son David Klahre on August 23, 1987.
Mrs. Klahre was a current member of the Memorial Church of the Brethren in Martinsburg, Pennsylvania and a previous member of the Everett Church of the Brethren, Everett, Pennsylvania.
A graduate of Bedford High School, Class of 1952, she then studied to be a Registered Nurse at Conemaugh Hospital School of Nursing, graduating in 1955. For 26 years, Donna served as an RN at Memorial Hospital of Bedford County, now UPMC Bedford Memorial. After retiring, she served as a volunteer for many years at The Village at Morrisons Cove.
Mrs. Klahre enjoyed reading, traveling with her husband, and spending time with her family and friends. She will be remembered for always lending a helping hand and putting the needs of others first.
A memorial service will be held Saturday, July 18th, 2020 at 1:00 pm at the Memorial Church of the Brethren, Martinsburg, Pennsylvania with Pastor Chris Garretson officiating.
A private burial will be held at the Cherry Lane Brethren Cemetery in Clearville.
Social distancing measures will be in effect and we ask that all attendees please wear masks.
