Dorothy B. (Baker) Hanks

Dorothy B. Hanks, 93, of Menno Village, Chambersburg, was called home to be with our Lord on Thursday, December 27th, 2012. She was born May 14th, 1919 at her family home in Snake Spring Valley, a daughter of the late Paul D. Baker and Margaret (Foreman) Baker. In 1942, Dorothy married Fred W. Garlick who passed away on March 3rd, 1962. In 1978 she married Donald N. Hanks who passed away on March 30th, 2003. She is survived by 3 nephews, a niece and their families, and was preceded in passing away by a sister Mildred F. Oaks and a brother John P. Baker. Mrs. Hanks was a longtime member of the First Christian Church in Everett and of the to the Everett American Legion Post #8 Auxiliary. For over 40 years she was a secretary and bookkeeper for the Bedford County Commissioners Office until retiring in 1981. Always an active community member, Dot enjoyed working cross word puzzles, spending time with her family and friends at Menno Village and will be greatly missed. Private funeral services will be held by her family with burial at Everett Cemetery.
