Dorothy Walters Obituary
Dorothy M. "Dottie" Walters, 84, of Hagerstown, passed away on Monday, May 6th, 2019.
She was born Wednesday, October 24th, 1934 in Artemas, a daughter of the late Alden Smith and Ida (Lawhead) Smith.
In 1969 in Flintstone, she married Harold R. Walters who survives along with her sister, Helen M. Garton of Hagerstown,
Two nieces, Carla Quimby of Hagerstown and Vicki Grimm and husband Rodger Grimm of Hagerstown,
A great-niece, Leslie R. Phillips and husband Andy Phillips of Boonsboro,
Three great great-nieces, Ashley and Alyssa Phillips at home, and Megan Quimby of Hagerstown and her daughter, great-great great-niece Kiana.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in passing away by a brother-in-law Howard "Jim" Garton.
Mrs. Walters was a lifelong member of the Lebanon Christian Church and a graduate of Everett Southern Joint High School, Class of 1951.
After graduation, she worked as a secretary at the Everett High School and then worked as an administrative assistant at Central Chemical in Hagerstown, at Allegany Ballistics Lab in Cresaptown, and retired after working at Charlton Brothers Transportation in Hagerstown.
Dottie, as she was known to her family and friends, enjoyed traveling with her husband throughout the area east of the Mississippi River and southern Canada, including Florida, Myrtle Beach, Ocean City, and visiting with family in Cincinnati. She was a loving and dedicated, wife, sister, aunt and friend who will be greatly missed.
Funeral service will be held Saturday, May 11th, 2019 at 1:00 pm at in the Chapel at Dalla Valle Funeral Service, 22 West Main Street, Everett with Rev. Curtis Bryant officiating. Friends may call at the funeral home on Saturday from 11:00 am until the hour of service and share memories online at www.dallavalle-everett.com. Burial will be held at Fairview Cemetery.
