Eldon O. Martin, 84, of Everett, was called home to be with the Lord on Tuesday, June 14, 2011. He was born April 6, 1927, in Hancock, a son of the late James O. Martin, and Ida (Crawford) Martin. On December 31, 1950 in Flintstone, by the Rev. Robert Twigg, he married Betty A. Martin, who preceded him in death on January 17, 2011. He is survived by their son Terry E. Martin and wife Karen (Allison) Martin of Everett, 3 grandchildren, Cale Martin and companion Lyneice Chamberlin, of Clearville Brooke Martin of Everett Rustin Martin of Everett, and 2 great-grandchildren, Bridget and Celeste. He was preceded in passing away by a daughter Sue Ellen Martin, and two sisters, Roxie G. Hall and Ruth M. Howsare. Mr. Martin attended the First Christian Church in Everett. He served in the United States Army during World War II as a light truck driver, earning the Army of Occupation Medal, and the World War II Victory Medal, and was a member of William McKinley Smith Post #155 American Legion, Artemas. After service to his country, Eldon worked in road construction many years until he began working as a truck driver for New Enterprise Stone and Lime for over 26 years until retiring. He enjoyed attending bluegrass festivals and loved to go to various antique car cruise-ins to see the classic cars. He was a loving husband, father, and grandfather who will be greatly missed. Funeral services will be held Friday, June 17, 2011 at 11:00 am in the Chapel at Dalla Valle Funeral Service, Main Street, Everett, with Rev. Robert R. Robertson officiating. Friends may call at the funeral home on Thursday from 4:00 pm to 8:00 pm, on Friday at the funeral home from 10:00 am until the hour of service and share memories online at www.dallavalle-everett.com. Burial will be held at Everett Cemetery. Full military honors will be conducted by the William McKinley Smith Post #155 American Legion.
