Ethel W. (Plessinger) Simmons

Ethel (Plessinger) Simmons, 95, of Hartley Road, Bedford, formerly of Everett, passed away at home Sunday April 1, 2012, with her family at her side. She was born December 15, 1916 in Julesburg, Colorado, a daughter of the late Willard and Jeanette Plessinger On April 1st and 2nd, 1938, she married Howard Warren Simmons, Jr., who passed away on May 29, 1988. On those two days, Howard promised his vows just before midnight on April 1st, and Ethel promised her vows on April 2nd just after midnight. She is survived by her daughter, Ann J. Diehl, and husband Rev, Dan Diehl, of Bedford twin sons, Dr. Melvin W. Simmons and wife Jean, of New Haven, Vermont Marvin H. Simmons and wife Barbara, of Easton A sister Nell Dunsavage, of Everett 7 grandchildren and 6 great grandchildren, and was greatly loved by all of her family. She was preceded in passing away by a twin sister, Pearl Furry, and 2 brothers, Curtis Plessinger and Melvin Plessinger. Ethel was a church member of the Victory Fellowship in Bedford where she was an inspiration to all, and was employed at Lion Manufacturing in Everett for over 39 years as a presser and checker until retiring. Earlier in her lifetime, she was a Girl Scouts leader, a Sunday school teacher, and a deaconess working the prayer coverage at the Everett Church of the Brethren Church for many years. A member of the Everett Happy Senior Citizens, she had many good times along with her friend Joe, where Edna and Arlen Showalter helped in the sharing of laughter and love, and Ethel with be greatly missed by the many friends she made where ever she would visit. Funeral services will be held Wednesday, April 4, 2012 at 11:00 am in the Chapel at Dalla Valle Funeral Service, Main Street, Everett, with Rev. Dan Diehl and Rev. Sandra Ibarra officiating. Friends may call at the funeral home on Wednesday from 10:00 am until the hour of service and share memories online at www.dallavalle-everett.com. Burial will be held at Everett Cemetery.
