Evelyn P. (Shimer) Caro

Evelyn Pearl Caro, 85, of Everett, most recently of Meadow View Nursing Center, was called home to be with the Lord on Friday, April 8th, 2016. She was born April 12th, 1930 in Central City, a daughter of the late Elmer and Anna (Custer) Shimer. On September 1st, 1952, at Mother of Sorrows Catholic Church in McKee's Rocks, she married Joseph John Caro, who preceded her in passing away on August 8th, 1995. She is survived by their sons, Joseph J. Caro, Jr., and wife Glenna (Cussins) of Bedford, and Nicholas R. Caro and wife Andrea L. (Dicken) of Crystal Spring; Seven grandchildren: Daniel Joseph Caro and fiancée Janelle Novak, David John Caro and wife Brandi, Carly Lynn Caves, James Arthur Champ, Kristin Nicole Caro, Courtney Paige Caro and Amanda Caro; Two great-grandchildren: Jacob Donald Twigg and wife Hannah, Joseph Daniel Twigg and wife Kaitlyn; and one great great granddaughter, Kyra Brooke Twigg; as well as many loving nieces, nephews, cousins, and their families. Along with her parents and her husband, she was preceded in passing away by a son, John P. Caro, in November of 1999, and two sisters: Virginia Adominik, and Betty Hamilton, and two brothers: John Shimer and Nevin Shimer. Mrs. Caro was a dedicated member of St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church in Everett, of which she was among the founding families. There, she was a member of The Ladies of St. John's, and participated in and helped lead many church activities. She was a devoted homemaker who also worked for several years as a tour guide at Old Bedford Village. Evelyn enjoyed reading, knitting, playing bingo and cards with her family and friends, spending time with her grandchildren, and cooking a great meal. She will be remembered for her commitment to church, family, and community. Mass of Christian Burial will be held Thursday, April 14th, 2016 at 1:00pm at St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church in Everett, with Rev. Derek Fairman officiating. Friends may call at Dalla Valle Funeral Home, Main Street, Everett, on Wednesday from 4:00 to 8:00pm, and on Thursday from 11:00am until departure for the church, and may share memories online at www.dallavalle-everett.com.
