Evelyn Drenning Obituary

Evelyn M. May Drenning, 88, of Bedford, a lifelong resident of Clearville, was called home to be with the Lord on Saturday, February 6th, 2016. She was born Saturday, January 21st, 1928 at her family home in Clearville, a daughter of the late Marshall Clark and Nellie (Shaw) Clark. On April 5th, 1947 in Cumberland, she married Richard C. May who passed away on March 25th, 1989. On February 11th, 1993 at the Bethel Christian Church in Purcell, she married John E. "Jack" Drenning who preceded in passing away on June 12th, 2009. She is survived by her son, Gary P. May and wife Beverly A. (Clark) May of Clearville, Four stepchildren, Larry Dietz of Somerset, Barry Dietz of Somerset, Max Drenning and wife Joy of New Bloomfield, John E. "Jack" Drenning, Jr. and wife Jill of Bedford, Three grandchildren, Terri (May) Lundberg and husband Robert Lundberg of Purcellville, Virginia Bradley May and wife Cindy (Border) May of Bedford Krista (May) Bowers and husband Roger Bowers of Greencastle Nine great-grandchildren, four step-grandchildren and their families, and a sister Velma (Clark) Mellott of Shippensburg. In addition to his parents and husbands, she was preceded in passing away by two infant brothers, Wilbur Clark and Webster Clark, an infant sister Marie Clark and two brothers Conda Clark and Arnold Clark. Mrs. Drenning was a member of Bethel Christian Church, had previously attended the Rock Hill Christian Church and most recently and attended the Chestnut Ridge Independent Fellowship Church. As a faithful attendee, she had previous served as a Bible School teacher and played piano for Sunday services. A member of the Chaneysville Senior Citizens and Bedford Senior Citizens, Evelyn enjoyed quilting and crocheting, flower and vegetable gardening, and cooking and baking for holiday and special family events. She will be remembered for her great sense of humor, always being ready for life's next adventure, and her lively and good-humored ways. Funeral services will be held Thursday, February 11th, 2016 at 11:00 am in the Chapel at Dalla Valle Funeral Service, Main Street, Everett, with Rev. Russell Hoffman officiating. Friends may call at the funeral home on Wednesday from 4:00 to 8:00 pm, on Thursday from 10:00 am until the hour of service and share memories online at www.dallavalle-everett.com. Burial will be held at the Stevens Chapel Cemetery.
