Evelyn Karns Obituary

Evelyn O. Karns, 96 of Everett, PA, surrounded by her family, went home to be with the Lord on Thursday, August 14, 2025.

She was born in Chaneysville, PA, on January 11, 1929, a daughter of the late Edgar and Jennie (Perrin) O’Neal.

On November 12, 1946, she married Charles A. Karns who preceded her in passing on June 8, 2012.

Evelyn is survived by three children, Fred Karns, wife Linda, Bonnie Ruby, husband Kenny, and Dennis Karns; a sister, Betty Morse; nine grandchildren, Kelly Clark, husband Jeff, Travis Karns, wife Heather, Garrick Karns, wife Debbie, Braden Karns, wife Denise, Christa Davis, husband Jon, Rebecca Brown, husband Jeremy Elbin, Melissa Karns, husband Travis Noland, Jenny Wills, husband Willy, and Chuck Karns, wife Betty; 25 great-grandchildren; and seven great-great-grandchildren; a very special friend, Helen Ritchey; and many loving nieces, nephews, cousins, and their families.

In addition to her parents and husband, Evelyn was preceded in passing by an infant twin sister, Ethlyn; two brothers, George O’Neal and Fred O’Neal; sister, Maxine Klahre; and a great-great-granddaughter, Tyra Burkett.

She worked at Lion’s Manufacturing (Everett Sewing Factory) for 17 years. After retiring from the sewing factory, she put her many talents to use cleaning homes for many families in Everett.

Evelyn had a deep love for sewing and crocheting, finding joy in sharing her skills with others. She especially delighted in creating clothing for her children, grandchildren, and dolls. An avid gardener, she had a natural talent for growing flowers-sunflowers being her favorite. She also enjoyed canning, working on puzzles, and doing word searches in her spare time.

She was a lifetime member of the Clear Creek Brethren in Christ Church. During her time there, she taught Sunday School and had a special love for children.

The family would like to give a special “thank you” to the UPMC Hospice team, and her nurse, Stacey for the love and care she gave.
