Frank W. Ritchey, 88, of Everett, passed away on Thursday, February 28th, 2013. He was born Friday, October 10th, 1924 at his family home in East Providence Township, a son of the late Rush G. Ritchey and Theresa C. (Gehm) Ritchey. In April of 1951, he married Lura Emma (Means) Ritchey who passed away on April 24th, 2003. He is survived by their two sons, William M. Ritchey of Everett Roger T. Ritchey and wife Christena R. (Clingerman) Ritchey, of Clearville Two sisters, Ann Deshong of New Providence, Lancaster County Susan Foor, North Jackson, Ohio A brother, John W. Ritchey, of Peach Bottom, Lancaster County And two grandchildren Allison D. Ritchey of Clearville, and Adrian D. Ritchey and wife Andrea L. (Crawford) Ritchey of Everett. He was preceded in passing away by an infant daughter Virginia Ritchey in September of 1953, two sisters, Elsie McDonald and Kate Casey, and a brother George Ritchey. As a young man, Frank first worked with his family at their farm, and then enlisted in the United States Army during World War II, where he served as a Corporal with the 1521st Army Air Force Base Unit at Fairfield-Suisun Army Air Base in California, and was a member of the American Legion Post #8 in Everett. After returning home from his military service, Frank began working on the construction of the Pennsylvania Turnpike, and then was employed with Tel-Power Inc. of Hollidaysburg as a foreman throughout central Pennsylvania, directing the construction and maintenance of all types of utility poles, aerial and underground cable and wiring, traffic signal controllers and lights until retiring in 1990. At home, Frank enjoyed listening to the scanner for local events, hunting, fishing, and riding his ATV, and truly enjoyed spending time with his sons and their families, and will be deeply missed by his faithful companion "Shorty." Meeting with his friends at Kelly's Restaurant for breakfast each day and teaching and sharing "the ways of life" are just a few of Frank's special qualities that we will greatly miss.
