Gladys F. Calhoun Conner

Gladys F. Calhoun Conner, 84, of Breezewood, was called home to be with the Lord on Wednesday, January 14th, 2015. She was born Friday, January 2nd, 1931 in Altoona, a daughter of the late Mary Berdetta (Simpson) Rush, and granddaughter of her loving grandparents, Edward and Georgiana Simpson, who raised her at their home. On March 19, 1947 in Winchester, Virginia, she married Mack M. Calhoun who passed away on January 9th, 1996, and is survived by their two sons, Glenn E. Calhoun and wife Cynthia (Coar) Calhoun of Wenonah, New Jersey Garry L. Calhoun and wife Mary Ann (Balog) Calhoun of Penn Township, Pennsylvania And a grandson Samuel Calhoun of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania On June 2nd, 2001, she married Roy F. Conner who preceded her in passing away on December 25th, 2008, and is survived by his children, Karen Conner, Gary Conner and wife Sandra, Ellis Conner and wife Kristy, and their families. Mrs. Calhoun was a member of the Clear Ridge Fellowship Church, previously attended Stevens Chapel United Methodist Church and Baker Boulevard Church of Christ in Richland Hills, Texas. She was dedicated to her work and home, having worked every day of her life once her school years at the Woodbush School ended. She was employed as a housekeeper at the Holiday Inn in Breezewood, later working Strayer's Locker Plant in Everett as a meat cutter. She then worked in the meat department at the Everett IGA for 15 years and was the head of housekeeping at the Ramada Inn in Breezewood for 12 years until retiring. Gladys also had worked a department store clerk, operated her own home sales of Tupperware and Stanley products, and after retiring, worked as a housekeeper for several local families. Her most fond memories of her childhood were attending the auctions where here grandfather Edward would call, or run, the auctions. At home she enjoyed spending time with her family for a summer picnic, a holiday gathering at Thanksgiving and Christmas, and will be truly missed for lending a listening ear and the kind thoughts she shared. Funeral services will be held Sunday, January 18th, 2015 at 2:00 pm in the Chapel at Dalla Valle Funeral Service, Main Street, Everett with Pastor Todd Bowls officiating. Family and friends may the funeral home on Saturday from 4:00 to 8:00 pm, on Sunday from 1:00 pm until the hour of service and share memories online at www.dallavalle-everett.com. Burial will be held at Steven's Chapel Cemetery.
