Harold E. Koontz

Harold E. Koontz, 91, of Martinsburg, formerly of Everett, was called home to be with the Lord on Friday, August 1, 2014. He was born Sunday, January 7th, 1923 at his family home in Clearville, a son of the late Ellis C. Koontz and Sara Mae (Conlon) Koontz. On December 13th, 1941 in Winchester, Virginia, he married Elsie Marie (Bennett) Koontz who passed away on January 5th, 2009. He is survived by 2 brothers, Allen "Jim" Koontz and wife Betty (Henderson) Koontz , of Bedford, and Richard "Dick" Koontz and wife Marilyn (Perrin) Koontz, of Everett A special granddaughter Catherine Kelsey Koontz, of Baltimore A special niece and her husband, Sheila and Rodney Boyd, of Everett And many more nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews who loved him very much. In addition to his wife, he was preceded in passing away by his son, Ronald Gene Koontz. Mr. Koontz was a long time member of the Everett Church of the Brethren and faithfully attended Church on Sunday while living at The Village At Morrison's Cove. In his you younger years, Harold and his brother owned and operated a saw mill, later working for Bowser Line and Trimming and retired after many years of service with United Telephone Company. He enjoyed attending gospel music festivals, gardening, hunting in his younger years and telling stories of his hunting days, and spending time with his family, especially at the picnics at his brother Dick's home. Harold had many friends at The Village, and along with his family and friends here at home, he will truly be missed for the kindness and caring ways that he shared with so many and his willingness to help others. Funeral services will be held Wednesday, August 6th, 2014 at 11:00 am at the First Christian Church of Everett with Rev. Robert R. Robertson officiating. Friends may call at Dalla Valle Funeral Service, Main Street, Everett, on Tuesday from 4:00 to 8:00 pm, at the Church on Wednesday from 10:00 am until the hour of service and share memories online at www.dallavalle-everett.com. Burial will be held at Everett Cemetery.
