Helen L. (Felton) Mellott

Helen L. Mellott, 90, of Altoona, previously of Everett, was called home to be with the Lord on Monday, March 19, 2012. She was born November 28, 1921 in Everett, a daughter of the late Gustie H. Felton and Loretta (Pee) Felton. On July 3rd, 1943 in Winchester, Virginia, she married Elmer N. Mellott, who survives along with their children, Delmas W. Mellott and wife Shirley, of York Judith A. Mellott and companion Eric Bell, of Shippenville, Darrell N. Mellott and wife Darlene, of Chesapeake, Virginia Betty Jo Lynn, of Altoona 6 grandchildren she dearly loved, Bryan Lynn, Anna Lynn, Kelly Yarborough, Danielle Mellott, Petal Brown and Crystal Brown, 5 great grandchildren, Nichole, Jordan, Marley, Waseer, and Chanel. a sister, Velma Crawford, of Bedford and a brother, Robert "Bob" Felton, and wife Shirley, of Everett. She was preceded in passing away by an infant sister, a sister Leona Hoover, and 2 brothers, John Felton and James Felton. Mrs. Mellott was a member of the First Christian Church in Everett where she enjoyed quilting with her fellow church members. She was a graduate of Everett High School, Class of 1939 and for over 37 years, was a seamstress at Lion Manufacturing in Everett until retiring. At home she enjoyed sewing, flower and vegetable gardening, and would go out of her way to play a good game of cards. With her loving hands, she made beautiful quilts to give to her family and friends, enjoyed canning, cooking and baking for family meals, and also enjoyed traveling throughout the western United States. She was a loving and caring wife, mother, grandmother and sister who will be greatly missed for her caring and loving ways. Funeral services will be held Thursday, March 22, 2012 at 11:00 am at the Chapel at Dalla Valle Funeral Service, Main Street, Everett, with Rev. Robert R. Robertson officiating. Friends may call at the funeral home on Wednesday from 4:00 to 8:00 pm, on Thursday from 10:00 am until the hour of service, and share memories online at www.dallavalle-everett.com. Burial will be held at Everett Cemetery.
