Jack Barton Obituary

Jack B. Barton, 87, of Everett, Pennsylvania, was called home to be with the Lord on Friday, April 17th, 2015 with his family at his side. He was born Monday, September 5, 1927 in Lansdowne, Maryland, a son of the late John M. Barton and Ada M. (Beall) Barton. On November 1st, 1952 at the Waverly Methodist Church, Waverly, Maryland, he married Constance V. "Connie" (Seymour) Barton, his wife of 62 years, who survives along with their children, Jack E. Barton and wife Wanda (Ward) Barton of Everett June P. Knowles of Everett Nine grandchildren, Rebecca Brown of China Jessica Sikes of Berkeley Springs, West Virginia David Knowles of Ephrata, Pennsylvania, Katie Wenger of Haddington, Pennsylvania Patricia Burgess of Akron, Pennsylvania Jennifer Knowles of Everett Dakota Knowles of Everett Tyler Knowles of Ephrata, Pennsylvania Anna Hudson of New Holland, Pennsylvania 22 great-grandchildren Two sisters, Jane Wood of Florida and June Engleskirsh of Westminster, Maryland; and a brother Jon Barton of Florida. He was preceded in passing away by an infant son, a son-in-law Michael Knowles and a sister Joan Eason. Mr. Barton was a member of Stevens Chapel United Methodist Church, Clearville, Pennsylvania and a graduate of Catonsville High School in Baltimore, Maryland. After graduation, Jack enlisted in the Army National Guard of the United States, serving as the Shop Chief of the Motor Pools at the Parkville, Dundalk and Catonsville armories until retiring as a Chief Warrant Officer W4 in 1979. After retiring to Everett, Jack was a founding member of the Bloody Run Auto Club. He was a gentleman farmer who enjoyed riding and caring for his horses, working around his home and property, and will be remembered for his leadership and caring ways, having made certain that his family, friends, and community were well cared for. Funeral services will be held Thursday, April 23rd, 2015 at 11:00 am in the Chapel at Dalla Valle Funeral Service, 22 West Main Street, Everett, Pennsylvania 15537 with Rev. Jay Saxe and Pastor John Bennett officiating and Military Honors conducted by the Everett Honor Guard. Friends may call at the funeral home on Wednesday from 4:00 to 8:00 pm, on Thursday from 10:00 am until the hour of service and share memories online at www.dallavalle-everett.com. A Committal Service and burial will be held Thursday, April 23rd, 2015 at 2:30 pm at Resthaven Memorial Gardens, 9501 Catoctin Mountain Highway (US-15 North) Frederick, Maryland 21701.
