Joan R. "Skip" (Steele) Williams

Joan R. "Skip" Williams, 84, of Everett, was called home to be with the Lord on Wednesday, October 7th, 2015. She was born Friday, February 20th, 1931 in Hopewell, a daughter of the late Lloyd Robert Steele and Drucilla Anna (Bollman) Steele. On February 5th, 1963 in Winchester Virginia she married Eddie D. Williams who passed away on August 8th, 2007. She is survived by their children, Dan Reed of Everett, Scott Williams of Everett, Susan Williams of Everett, Joe Williams of Everett, Beth Williams of Bristo, Virginia, Eleven grandchildren, Dan, Karen, Claire, Eddie, Thomas, Drew, Cameron, Brooke, Hannah, Colin, and Seth, Three great-grandchildren, Alex, Cal and Abby, A sister Peg (Steele) Stapleton and husband George Stapleton of New Enterprise, A sister-in-law, Barb Steele of Everett Two brothers, G. Dale Steele and wife Linda (Peck) Steele of Everett, Jerry Steele and wife Paula (Clark) Steele, of Hopewell and many loving cousins, nieces, nephews and their families. In addition to her parents she was preceded in passing away by a son Jesse "Robin" Reed, a daughter-in-law Eileen Reed, a sister Alice Jean Bottenfield, and three brothers, Bob Steele, Jack Steele and Terry Steele. Mrs. Williams was a member of the Everett Grace Brethren Church and attended Pennwood Bible Church. After attending the Robert P. Smith School, Skip, as she was know to her family and friends, worked as a waitress at the Dairy Dell restaurant in Everett, as a presser at Lion Manufacturing in Everett, was an Avon Sales representative and also worked at the Bedford County Shoppers Guide. More so than her work outside of home, Skip was a full time Mom to her children and enjoyed crocheting, attending yard sales and flee markets, and when she went out, was happy to just take a seat and watch the many different people passing by. She will be remembered as a loving and caring wife, mother, grandmother, sister and friend. Funeral services will be held Sunday, October 11th, 2015 at 2:00 pm in the Chapel at Dalla Valle Funeral Service, Main Street, Everett, with Pastor Dana Umbel officiating. Friends may call at the funeral home on Saturday from 4:00 to 8:00 pm, on Sunday from 1:00 pm until the hour of service and share memories online at www.dallavalle-everett.com. Burial will be held at the Stevens Chapel Cemetery.
