Jonas L. Burket, 82, of Everett, PA, passed away on Sunday, March 3, 2024.
He was born in Bedford, PA, on September 8, 1941, a son of the late Harry S. Burket and Geraldine F. (Custer) Burket.
Jonas is survived by two nieces, Julia J. Burket of Wheeling, WV, and Gerry B. Long and husband Kirk of Medical Lake, WA; a nephew Roong R. Burket and wife Theresa of Cheney, WA; eight great nieces and nephews, Victor and Vincent Long, Logan and Alexis Burket, James O. Lash III and wife Kelli of Columbia, MD, Kristen R. Lash and husband Marc Turner of Elkridge, MD, Michelle L. and Melissa G. Dixon of Akron, OH; and three great-great nieces and nephews, Jacob A. Hall, Keyera N. Gillies and Marley E. Jarmon.
In addition to his parents, Jonas was preceded in passing by a brother, Victor H. Burket and Sister In Law Hoam (Jai) D. Burket; and a niece, Timi Kelly.
He was a member of the Liberty Independent Baptist Church in Bedford. The church was a second family to Jonas. They took great care of him over the many years. He found fellowship and community there and appreciated the love and support they showed him.
Jonas was a family man. He was a wonderful son who took care of his parents and loved spending time with his family, especially visiting them out West when he could. He was a wonderful Uncle. His nieces and nephews adored him.
Over the years, he enjoyed going fishing, hunting, and attending local sports events to show his support. He loved traveling to visit family, taking boat rides at Raystown Lake, riding his bike, visiting with friends and family, and attending church.
He retired from Blue Triangle Hardwoods.
A memorial service will be on Saturday, April 13, 2024 at 11:00 AM with pastor Clifford Swankler officiating.
Interment will be at Bethel Brethren Cemetery, Hopewell Township PA.
