Larry Jess Smith

Larry Jess Smith, 64, of Charlotte, NC, formerly of Everett, passed away at home on Wednesday, June 15, 2011. He was born September 22, 1946 in Everett, a son of the late Jesse S. Smith and Mary Edith (Gordon) Smith. He is survived by his wife, Joan C, Smith, of Concord NC, four daughters and two sons, Tina Marie Carter and husband Richard Carter, of Lancaster, Cathy Lynn Smith, and fiancé David Smith, of Concord, NC Sherry Beth Fabian, and husband Jay Fabian, of Charlotte, NC Larry "Jay" Jess Smith, Jr. of Concord, NC Mandy Jo Smith and husband Travis Smith, Fort Irwin, CA, and Curtis Edward Smith of Charlotte, NC Thirteen grandchildren: Alyssa Carter, Spencer Nichols, Amberly Carter, McKenzie Smith, Briana Carter, Avery Smith, Mason Smith, Claire Carter, Belle Fabian, Jasper Smith, Lauren Smith, Brady Fabian, and Baily Smith, A sister, Joanne Swindell of Breezewood, and a brother, Harold (Buck) Smith of Everett. Mr. Smith was a member of St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church in Everett. He was a graduate of Everett Area High School, Class of 1964, and after graduation, served in the United States Navy as a Flagman on an aircraft carrier in Spain, Cuba and other parts of the world. Larry was an entrepreneur in restaurant management in partnership with his son Curtis, and enjoyed cooking, fishing, gardening and watching his grandchildren play in their sports events, and was a loving father, grandfather, brother and friend who will be greatly missed. Mass of the Christian Burial will be held Wednesday, June 22, 2011 at 10:00 am at St. John The Evangelist Catholic Church in Everett, with Rev. Richard B. Tomkosky officiating. Friends may call at Dalla Valle Funeral Service, Main Street, Everett, on Tuesday from 4:00 to 8:00 pm, on Wednesday at the funeral home from 9:30 am until departure for the Church at 9:45 am, and share memories online at www.dallavalle-everett.com. Burial will be held at Bedford County Memorial Park with full Military Graveside Honors conducted by the Everett Honor Guard.
