Lawrence Foor Obituary

Lawrence H. "Larry" Foor, 76, of Breezewood, formerly of Everett, passed away at home on Tuesday, January 3rd, 2017, with his family by his side. He was born, Saturday, February 3rd, 1940 in the D.R. Sipes Hospital in Everett, a son of the late Lawrence C. Foor and Phyllis E. (Hall) Foor. On January 20, 1962 at the First Christian Church in Everett, formerly the First United Church of Christ, he married Connie P. (Chisholm) Foor who survives along with their sons, Larry R. Foor and wife Nancy (Stanton) Foor of Huntsville, Alabama, Michael R. Foor and wife Nerissa (Rock) Foor of Boonville, Indiana, Five grandchildren, Taylor, Emily, Natalie, Shirah and Elias, Two sisters, H. Jean Ritchey and husband John W. Ritchey of Cypress, Texas, Charlotte Burns and husband Mansil Burns of Fredericksburg, Virginia, A brother Roy A. Foor of Everett, and many loving cousins, nieces, nephews, friends and their families. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in passing away by a sister-in-law, Beverly A. (Bolinger) Foor. Mr. Foor was a lifelong member of the First Christian Church in Everett where he served as a deacon emeritus, was a member of the Church choir, a Sunday school teacher and served on many Church boards. A graduate of Everett Southern Joint High School, class of 1958, and Defiance College in Defiance Ohio, Class of 1964, Larry first worked as an agent for State Farm Insurance Company in Newark Ohio. He and his family then returned to Pennsylvania, living in Warfordsburg while he managed Angle Feed and Lumber Company in Hancock Maryland. Its was during this time that he enlisted in the Pennsylvania Army National Guard, serving for 7 years until being honorably discharged as a Sergeant E5 in 1968. He then accepted a position with Everett Hardwood Lumber Company as the Wholesale Manger, buying logs, grading lumber, operating the saw mill and dryings kilns and managing all aspects of shipping and receiving. After leaving Everett Hardwood, Larry was a substitute teacher for the Everett Area School District, a work he truly enjoyed until retiring. Previously he served as chairman and vice chairman of the School Advisory Board of the Bedford-Everett Vocational-Technical School, was a member of the Bedford County Industrial Development Council, was past president and vice president of the Everett Area Industrial Development Council and was a member and past president and vice president of the Everett Jaycees. A loving husband, father, grandfather, brother and friend, Larry will be remembered for his kind and forgiving nature, his great sense of humor, and his willingness to truly share his life with his wife and children. To those who knew him, you could not ask for a better husband, father, brother or friend. Funeral services will be held Saturday, January 7th, 2017 at 11:00 am in the First Christian Church of Everett, with Rev. Robert R. Robertson officiating, with full military honors conducted by the Everett Honor Guard. Friends may call at Dalla Valle Funeral Service, Main Street, Everett on Friday from 4:00 to 8:00 pm, on Saturday at the Church from 10:00 am until the hour of service and share memories online at www.dallavalle-everett.com.
