Lawrence A. Himes, 77, of Baltimore, formerly of Friends Cove, passed away on Thursday, March 1, 2012 with his family at his side. He was born Tuesday, August 28, 1934 in Friends Cove, a son of the late Emery Hymes and Myrrel (Housel) Hymes. He is survived by his sister, Hazel M. Calhoun of Everett, and a nephew, Glenn J. Calhoun and wife Nancy (Mellott) Calhoun of Everett. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in passing away by his wife Shirley, an infant brother Benjamin Hymes, and a brother in law Joseph Calhoun. Mr. Hymes attended the Baptist Church at his home Caton Hall in Baltimore. He served in the United States Army at Fort Hood Texas for from May of 1954 through August of 1957, and after returning home he continued his work as a farmer in the Friends Cove area. After moving to Baltimore, Lawrence worked with Fire, Smoke and Water Restoration until retiring. In his younger days he enjoyed rolling skating, working around his home, and was always willing to lend a hand to family and friends. He will be greatly missed for his caring ways and the simplicity of life that he shared with so many. Funeral Services will be held Monday, March 5, 2012 at 1:00 pm in the Chapel at Dalla Valle Funeral Service, Main Street, Everett, with Rev. Janet E. Sell officiating. Burial will be held at Schellsburg Cemetery.
