Leo L. O'Brien, 90, of Everett, passed away on Monday, August 26th, 2013. He was born Sunday, December 31st, 1922 in New Baltimore, a son of the late Joseph O'Brien and Olive (Schaab) O'Brien. On October 9th, 1962 he married Eileen M. (Grasser) O'Brien who passed away on December 25th, 2007. He is survived by four sisters, Margaret "Peg" Hillegass, Rita Fulton, Anna O'Brien and Theresa Drenning; three brothers, Harold O'Brien, Gerald O'Brien, and Frank O'Brien, and many loving nieces, nephews, cousins and their families. He was preceded in passing away by an infant sister Helen "Shirley" O'Brien, four sisters, Mary Imgrund, Rose Fochtman, Irene O'Brien, and Evelyn "Tim" Fletcher, and a brother Robert O'Brien. Mr. O'Brien was a member of St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church in Everett. Earlier in his lifetime he worked with his family on their farm, later serving in the United States Army during World War II as a Technician 5th Grade with the 31st Field Hospital, as a Surgical Technician, receiving the Asiatic-Pacific Theater Ribbon with four Bronze Stars, the Philippine Liberation Ribbon with one Bronze Star, the Good Conduct Medal and the World War II Victory Medal. After returning home from his service to our country, Leo worked at several jobs until he and his wife Eileen started their own timber cutting business, clearing land for construction and farming until retiring. At home he enjoyed gardening, caring for his lawn and home, working on his truck and will be greatly missed for his humorous and giving ways. Mass of the Christian Burial will be held Saturday, August 31st, 2013 at 11:00 am at St. John The Evangelist Catholic Church in Everett with Rev. Derek Fairman officiating. Friends may call at Dalla Valle Funeral Home, Main Street, Everett, on Friday from 4:00 to 8:00 pm with a Vigil Wake at 7:45 pm, on Saturday, from 10:00 am until departure for the Church at 10:45 am, and share memories online at www.dallavalle-everett.com. Burial will be held at Everett Cemetery with Military Honors conducted by the Everett Honor Guard.
