Lesley V. "Amos & Buddy" Beck

Lesley V. Beck, 89, of Everett, known as Amos and Buddy to his family and friends, was called home to be with the Lord on Thursday, October 20. 2011. He was born June 11, 1922 at his family home in Southampton Township, a son of the late Grover C. Beck, Sr. and Inez (Cooper) Beck. On January 17, 1949 in Cumberland, he married Harriett E. (Smith) Beck, who passed away on March 8, 1995. He is survived by their son, William E. "Bill" Beck, and fiancée Lucy Mearkle, both of Everett; a daughter, Joan M. Lambert, and husband Genaro "Jerry" Lambert, of Ballston Spa, NY; a daughter in law, Lorette Y. Beck, of Everett 5 grandchildren, Jerry Beck, of Everett Laura Peterson and husband Jake, of North Dakota Brooke Rininger, of New York Troy Beck, and wife Lynn, of Bedford Stefan Beck, and wife Crystal, of Indiana 14 great grandchildren, 4 great-great grandchildren 2 sisters, Margaret "Peggy" Shipley, of Pleasantville and Evelyn Clark, of Everett and 2 brothers, Veryl "Slugger" Beck, of Philadelphia and William "Billy" Beck, and wife Margaret "Peg" Beck of North Carolina. He was preceded in passing away by an infant son Robert Alvin Beck, a son James M. Beck, an infant granddaughter Joelle, a daughter in law, Brenda (Napoline) Beck, a sister Verna (Beck) Henry, and 3 brothers, Robert "Bob" Beck, Richard "Dick" Beck, and Grover C. "Chet" Beck, Jr. Like his 5 brothers who served in the United States Armed Forces, Lesley served in the United States Marine Corps during World War II as a Corporal in the Asiatic Pacific Theater receiving the Good Conduct Medal. After returning home, Buddy worked as a truck driver for Interstate Motor Freight in Bedford, Sharon and Butler for nearly 40 years until retiring, and will be remembered as a family man who was always there for you in the best and worst of times. Funeral services will be held Monday, October 24, 2011 at 11:00 am in the Chapel at Dalla Valle Funeral Service, Main Street, Everett, with Rev. Robert R. Robertson officiating. Friends may call at the funeral home on Sunday from 4:00 pm to 8:00 pm, on Monday from 10:00 am until the hour of service and share memories online at www.dallavalle-everett.com. Burial will be held at Everett Cemetery with Full Military Honors Conducted by the Everett Honor Guard.
