Lillian E. Batzel, 101, of Graystone Court, Bedford, formerly of Everett and Fort Myers Florida, went home to be with the Lord Tuesday, May 10, 2011 at home with her family by her side. She was born April 24, 1910 in Loysburg, a daughter of the late Norman F. Kegarise and Alma S. (Hall) Kegarise. On April 19, 1930 in Cumberland, she married John E. Batzel who passed away on March 5, 1991. She is survived by their children, John E. Batzel, Jr. and wife JoAnne (Clark) Batzel, of Waterside Shirley J. (Batzel) Grazer, and husband Daniel D. Grazer, of Bedford 5 Grandchildren, Jeffrey J. Grazer, David R. Grazer, Deborah A. Dibert, Gregory L. Batzel, Michael S. Batzel 6 great grandchildren, Ashley Dibert, Kortney Dibert, Brandi Gwin, Kaci Batzel, Kristi Batzel, Tyler Batzel, a great great-grandson, Zakhi Chamblee and two sisters, Nellie L. Morrison of Loysburg and Alverta P. Morris, of Wisconsin. She was preceded in passing by her brothers, Rev. Percy R. Kegarise and Ernest G. Kegarise, and four sisters, Mabel E. Schindler, Rosalind D. Harris, Charlotte B. Oakes, and Elizabeth "Betty" J. Bache. Mrs. Batzel was a dedicated and faithful member of the Bethel Church of the Brethren in Tatesville where she served as a Deaconess, Church Treasurer, pianist, and Sunday School teacher. After moving to Graystone Court, she was an active member of the Bedford Church of the Brethren. At home, Lillian enjoyed caring for her family and loved to work outdoors in her flowerbeds, and truly enjoying the time she spent with her husband John during their retirement years in Fort Myers. She will be remembered by so many people who passed through the village of Tatesville to see and photograph her unique red and white phlox flowerbed, with the flowers planted in an arrangement to form a beautiful "Hello" greeting, and will be greatly missed for her kind and caring ways.
