Lynn D. Whetstone, 68, of Everett, was called home to be with the Lord on Monday, February 6, 2012. He was born Thursday, February 25, 1943 in Everett, a son of the late Carl T. Whetstone and Ivadeen (Leonard) Whetstone. On April 8, 1961 in a ceremony officiated by his uncle Rev. Clarence E. Whetstone, he married Shirley E. (Price) Whetstone who survives along with their son, Shawn C. Whetstone and wife Frances (Miceli) Whetstone, of Fairfax Station, Virginia a daughter, Lynnette D. Whetstone, of Cumberland, Maryland 4 grandchildren, Benjamin Whetstone, Kristin Whetstone, Mark Whetstone, and Michelle Whetstone, a brother, Donn C. Whetstone, and wife Joyce (Brady) Whetstone, of Everett and many special and loving nieces, nephews and their families. Mr. Whetstone was a member of the First Christian Church in Everett where he served as an usher and was a member of the Church council, and was a member of the Everett Lodge #524, F&AM for over 25 years. He was also a member of the Bedford Amateur Radio Society and an Endowment member of the National Rifle Association. Lynn was a graduate of Everett Southern Joint High School, Class of 1961 and attended classes at Pennsylvania State University. In 1962, he began working with his father and brother at Whetstone Insurance Agency, later becoming a partner in the company, working there until 1986. He then was employed with several engineering firms as a consultant to the Pennsylvania Turnpike Commission until retiring in 2010. At home Lynn enjoyed farming, gardening, woodworking, and was an amateur radio operator (K3KYT) from the age of 16. He also was an avid hunter and enjoyed, reloading ammunition, and target practice at his home shooting range. A loving and caring husband, father, grandfather, brother and uncle, Lynn will be greatly missed for his sense of humor, love of laughter, and the wisdom and support he shared with so many. Funeral services will be held Thursday, February 9, 2012 at 11:00 am at the First Christian Church in Everett with Rev. Robert R. Robertson officiating. Friends may call at Dalla Valle Funeral Service, Main Street, Everett on Wednesday from 4:00 to 8:00 pm, of Thursday from 10:00 am until the hour of service, and share memories online at www.dallavalle-everett.com. Burial will be held at Everett Cemetery. The Everett Lodge #524, F&AM will conduct services at the funeral home on Wednesday at 7:30 pm.
