Marjorie Hyde Obituary

Marjorie M. Hyde, 96, formerly of Schellsburg, passed away peacefully in her sleep on Saturday, November 26, 2022. She was born on September 20, 1926, in Johnstown, PA, a daughter of the late Carl L. Keifer and Beatrice E. (Shaffer) Huffman.

On October 14, 1945, she married Fred C. Hyde who passed away on January 23, 1975.

Marjorie is survived by her son:

Fred C. Hyde II and wife Susan M. (Wentling) of Mars, PA.

Two grandchildren:

Austin Hyde of Pittsburgh,

Amanda Hyde of Milwaukee, WI,

And many loving nieces, nephews, cousins, friends, and their families.

In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in passing by an infant daughter, Kelly Lynne Hyde; a daughter, Sherry Denise Hyde; and a brother and his wife, James L. “Jimme” and Betty Jean (Henderson) Keifer.

Marjorie was a graduate of Schellsburg High School, Class of 1944.

She worked as a postal clerk at Schellsburg Post Office for many years until her retirement.

Marjorie was an avid traveler, always wanting to visit and experience new places. She traveled to China, Switzerland, the Netherlands, Australia, Greece, Italy, much of Europe and more. She loved ocean going cruises and traveled with family and friends often.

Marjorie lived 5 years in Key Largo, FL and then spent 22 wonderful years in Myrtle Beach, SC before returning to live closer to family and friends in Martinsburg because of declining health.

A memorial service will be held at a later date.

Burial will be held at Schellsburg Cemetery.
