Marjorie A. Shaffer, 92, of Crystal Spring, passed away on Friday, July 1st, 2016. She was born Monday, January 14th, 1924 at Dr. D.R. Sipes Hospital in Everett, a daughter of the late Chester A. Wilt, Sr. and Nellie C. (Stunkard) Wilt. On August 8th, 1944 at the First Methodist Church in Altoona, she married Dennis O. Shaffer who passed away on August 2nd, 2004. She is survived by their two sons, Randy L. Shaffer and wife Marie Alma (Hoop) Shaffer of Crystal Spring, Gregory D. Shaffer and wife Betty (Shives) Shaffer of Breezewood, Five grandchildren, Kim (Shaffer) Payne and husband Joe Payne of Breezewood, Scott Shaffer and wife Terri (Snyder) Shaffer of Breezewood, Stephanie (Hann) Richardson and husband William Richardson of Hagerstown, Kathy (Hann) Gregg and husband Robb Gregg of Petersburg, Virginia, Angie (Shaffer) Anderson and husband Jerry Anderson of Virginia Beach, Virginia, Eleven great-grandchildren, Bryan, Kelli, Aaron, Heather, Amanda, Amber, Chelsey, Nickolas, Addie, Caleb, and Kasi, Nine great great-grandchildren and many loving nieces, nephews and their families. In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in passing away by a great-granddaughter Brittany Whitfield, two sisters LaVerne Hudson and LaDonna Spruill, two brothers Harry B. Wilt and Chester A. Wilt, Jr., a half sister Catherine Lichtenfels and two half brothers Albert E. Mills and Guy M. Mills. Mrs. Shaffer was a member of the Breezewood United Methodist Church and a graduate of Everett High School, Class of 1941. After graduation, Marjorie first worked at the Goodyear Tire and Rubber Company in Akron, Ohio, helping build airplane tires during World War II. After her marriage to Dennis, she worked as a secretary for 7 years at Wilson Freight in Everett and then worked as a secretary at Snyder's Gateway in Breezewood for the next 29 years until retiring. Marjorie also worked with her husband as an owner and operator of their Brush Creek Township dairy farm, Ko-Zy Acres. She was a was a member of the Breezewood VFW Post #8333 women's auxiliary who truly enjoyed caring for her horses and going on a trail ride, caring for her home, especially cutting the lawn, and will be remembered for always making time to visit and spend time with all of her family. A Memorial Service will be held Wednesday, July 6th, 2016 at 7:00 pm in the Chapel at Dalla Valle Funeral Service, Main Street, Everett, with Pastor David Grimes officiating. Friends may call at the funeral home on Wednesday from 4:00pm until the hour of service and share memories online at www.dallavalle-everett.com. Burial will be held at Union Memorial Cemetery.
