Mary G. (Young) Barndollar

Mary G. Barndollar, 98, of Lancaster, formerly of Palmyra and Everett, passed away on Wednesday, October 5, 2011 at home, with her family at her side. She was born January 23, 1913 in Kuna Idaho, a daughter of the late Maurice and Anna Young. On October 30, 1939, she married Tom R. Barndollar, who passed away on November 15, 1989. She is survived by their son, R. James Barndollar, and wife Polly (Koontz) Barndollar, of Lancaster, and a grandson, Michael James Barndollar, and wife Jesi (Adams) Barndollar, of Lancaster, She was preceded in passing away by 5 sisters, Elizabeth, Phyllis, Hannah, Pearl, & Florence and 4 brothers Roy, Seibert, Stanley, & Maurice. Mrs. Barndollar was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Palmyra and was a former member of the Barndollar Methodist Church, now the Everett United Methodist Church. She was active in both churches with the women's groups and sang in the choir for many years. She was a graduate of Broad Top High School and Shippensburg State Teachers College, Class of 1934, and was a High School teacher for the Broad Top and Everett Area School Districts where she also served as head of the English department. At home, Mary enjoyed reading, working crossword puzzles and was talented with needlework and will be greatly missed for her caring and helpful ways.
