Maxine Crawford Obituary

Maxine C. Crawford, 88, of Fayetteville, formerly of Clearville, was called home to be with the Lord on Wednesday, May 31st, 2017 from ManorCare Chambersburg. She was born Friday, April 19th, 1929 at her family home in Monroe Township, a daughter of the late Merle Cogan and May (Ward) Cogan. On June 26th, 1948 at the Cherry Lane Church of the Brethren, she married Ray S. Crawford who passed away on September 11th, 2003. She is survived by their children, Shirley Pogue of Chambersburg, Linda Crawford of Fayetteville, Guy Crawford and wife Sue (Shoop) Crawford of Mercersburg, Clyde Crawford of Chambersburg, Virginia Crawford-Nas and husband Stephen Nas of Orrtanna, Shavon Crawford of Virginia Beach, Virginia Julie Coldsmith of Fayetteville, Debra Hendricks of New Franklin, Patricia Crawford and husband Steven Crawford of McLean, Virginia, A stepson Samuel Crawford of Kenosha, Wisconsin, 13 grandchildren, 22 great-grandchildren, a great great-grandson, two half-sisters, Jean Stibitz of Corunna, Michigan and Marie Cogan of York, two half-brothers, Kenneth Cogan and wife Thelma of Clearville and James Cogan of Upper Strasburg, and many loving cousins, nieces, nephews and their families. I addition to he parents and husband, she was preceded in passing away by an infant daughter and five half-brothers. Mrs. Crawford was a lifelong member of the Pleasant Union Church in Clearville and most recently was a member of the New Testament Baptist Church in Green Village. A dedicated wife and mother, Maxine truly enjoyed raising her children and caring for her family. In 1968 she began her career as a seamstress at the J. Schoeneman Company in Chambersburg, working there until her retirement in 1990. At home she enjoyed reading her daily devotional and spending time with visiting family and friends, while also tending to her flower and vegetable gardens and celebrating holidays and special events where everyone she knew was welcome in her home. A memorial service will be held Saturday, June 3rd, 2017 at 1:00 pm in the Chapel at Dalla Valle Funeral Service, 22 West Main Street, Everett, with her son Guy R. Crawford officiating. Family and friends may call at the funeral home on Saturday from 11:00 am until the hour of service and share memories online at www.dallavalle-everett.com. Burial will be held at Pleasant Union Cemetery. .
