Olga Gates, 98, of Glenville, a life long resident of Hopewell, was called home to be with the Lord on Sunday, July 26th, 2015, with family at her side. She was born Sunday, February 25th, 1917 in Saxton, a daughter of the late Clyde Worthing and Mary (Zick) Hamilton. On August 10th, 1940 she married Robert V. Gates who passed away on April 16th, 1998 and is survived by their children, Linda E. May and husband Carl May of Glenville Robert G. Gates and wife Delores (Brown) Gates of Dallastown Cynthia A. Passero and husband Ronald Passero of Stafford, Virginia Daryl Gates and wife Barbara (Wilkins) Gates of Manns Choice 11 grandchildren, 23 great grandchildren, and 9 great great-grandchildren. Mrs. Gates was a founding member of the Pennwood Bible Church where she also sang as a soloist for Sunday services and served as a Sunday school teacher. A graduate of Saxton Liberty High School, Class of 1934, she and her husband owned and operated Gate's Pheasant Farm in Sunnyside for many years until she began her work as a waitress at the Breezewood Truck Stop and then at the Gateway Restaurant. With a practical and loving nature, always working towards the greater good, Olga was an exceptional cook and seamstress who enjoyed vegetable and flower gardening and will be remembered for her beautiful sense of humor she shared with her family and friends. Funeral services will be held Thursday, July 30th, 2015 at 1:00 pm at the Pennwood Bible Church with Pastor Jonathan Hoard officiating Friends may call at the Church on Thursday from 11:00 am until the hour of service and share memories online at www.dallavalle-everett.com. Burial will be held at Yellow Creek Cemetery, St. Paul's.
