Paul M. Calhoun, 98, of Everett, was called home to be with the Lord on Saturday, February 11th, 2017. He was born Friday, January 3rd, 1919 in Altoona, a son of the late Milford Calhoun and Elsie (Strait) Calhoun. On July 3rd, 1939 at their home near Mattie, he married Evelyn M. (Andrews) Calhoun who passed away on February 3rd, 2002. He is survived by their sons, Gary D. Calhoun and wife Helen (Tew) Calhoun of Bedford, Lawrence D. "Pete" Calhoun of Kernersville, North Carolina, Dana P. Calhoun and wife Katherine (Hershberger) Calhoun of Mechanicsburg, Four grandchildren, Dean Calhoun and wife Christy Calhoun of Gahhana, Ohio, Randy Calhoun of Bedford, Micah Calhoun and wife Deana of Marion, South Carolina, Rebekah Harlan and husband Nathan Harlan of Morgantown, West Virginia, Seven great-grandchildren, Cameron Calhoun, Mya Calhoun, Cooper Calhoun, Samuel Calhoun, Rhea Harlan, Simone Harman, Elsie Harlan, A sister Bette (Calhoun) Whited of Memphis, Tennessee, a sister-in-law, Esther Calhoun of Monroeville and many loving nieces, nephews, cousins and their families. In addition to his wife and parents, he was preceded in passing away by a sister May Hart and her husband George Hart, a brother John Calhoun and a brother-in-law Robert Whited. Mr. Calhoun was a member and the oldest living member of the Mt. Union Christian Church in Mench where he served in many positions during his lifetime. He was a graduate of the original Everett High School, Class of 1937 and them worked as a self-employed painter, a truck driver for Everett Bottling Works, an inspector for Fairchild Aircraft Corporation from 1943 to 1947 and was an equipment clerk for the Pennsylvania Department of Highways, the forerunner to PennDOT. Paul then worked for New Enterprise Stone and Lime Corporation at the Ashcom plant as a drill operator and dynamiter until retiring after 22 years of service. He was a member of the Teamster's Union Local 453 of Uniontown, now Cumberland, a founding and former member of the Everett Sportsman's Association, and was an avid hunter who also enjoyed trout fishing. His sons, Gary, Pete and Dana and their families would like to thank the many caregivers and friends who helped Paul to stay at home for these many past years. Funeral services will be held Wednesday, February 15th, 2017 at 1:00 pm in the Chapel at Dalla Valle Funeral Service, Main Street, Everett, with Rev. Curtis Bryant officiating.
