Ralph Bryce Means, 86, of Everett, passed away on Thursday, October 16th, 2014 at Donahoe Manor. He was born Saturday, March 10th, 1928 at his family home in Monroe Township, a son of the late Ivan B. Means and Virginia (Weimer) Means. On June 20th, 1952 in Winchester, Virginia, he married Audra Maxine (Wright) Means, who survives along with their daughter Debra Sue Sheffield of Annandale, Virginia, and a son Lynn Bryce Means and wife Sharon Lee Means, of Caswell Beach, North Carolina. Five sisters, Doris Mueller of Lutherville, Maryland Lois Hoagland of Bedford Ruth Borror of York Gail Badaracco and husband Joseph Badaracco of Parkton, Maryland Joyce Pepple and husband J. William Pepple of Everett and many loving nieces, nephews and their families. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in passing away by an infant brother Blair Means. Mr. Means was a faithful member of the Black Valley Federated Church of the Brethren and Christian where he served as the Sunday School Superintendent and Deacon for many years. He also served as an elected official of the Church Board and as a Moderator and Board Chair of the Executive Committee. He was a graduate of Everett High School, Class of 1945, and in 1951, enlisted in the United States Army, serving as a Staff Sergeant with the 23rd Infantry Battalion during the Korean War, earning the Korean Service Medal with one Bronze Service Star, the Combat Infantry Badge, and the United Nations Medal. After his service to our country, Bryce was a member of the Everett American Legion Post #8. For over 35 years, he worked as a Supply Clerk at the Everett Fare Collection Office for the Pennsylvania Turnpike Commission until retiring in 1991, and enjoyed raising Black Angus cattle, hunting deer and turkey, and was an avid Pittsburgh Pirates and Steelers fan who will be greatly missed by his family, friends and community. Funeral services will be held Monday, October 20, 2014 at 11:00am at the Black Valley Federated Church of the Brethren and Christian with Rev. Frank Wheeland officiating. Friends may call at Dalla Valle Funeral Service, Main Street, Everett, on Sunday from 4:00 to 8:00 pm, at the Church on Monday from 10:00 am until the hour of service and share memories online at www.dallavalle-everett.com. Burial will be held at Frame Church Cemetery. Military graveside honors will be conducted by the Everett Honor Guard.
