Raymond John Hillenbrand, Jr., 56, of Breezewood, was called home to be with the Lord on Sunday, June 29th, 2014 with his family at his side, after a very courageous battle with cancer. He was born Tuesday, December 10th, 1957 in Johnstown, a son of the late Raymond John Hillenbrand, Sr., and Virginia L. (Kels) Hillenbrand. On February 7th, 1986 at St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church in Everett, he married Julia A. (Goodrich) Hillenbrand who survives along with their son and grandson, Raymond John Hillenbrand, III and Canden John Hillenbrand, their daughter Leah Hillenbrand of Breezewood and her boyfriend Joshua Garland, of Everett, A brother, Dan Hillenbrand and wife Jennifer, and their daughters Taylor and Olivia, of Everett And a sister, Jane Barnes, and husband Brian and their son Timothy, of Everett. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in passing away by his brother Timothy J. Hillenbrand in 1988, and his mother and father-in-law, Mary Lou (Mearkle) Goodrich and Dale Goodrich. Raymond was a member of St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church and attended the Mt. Union Christian Church in Mench. He was a graduate of Everett Area High School, Class of 1976. He also studied agriculture at Potomac State University in Keyser, West Virginia. For the past 21 years, he was the owner operator of Raymond J. Hillenbrand, Jr. Trucking. He was a member of the Sons of The American Legion Post #8, the National Rifle Association, and previously was involved with the Breezewood Volunteer Fire Company for a number of years. He also enjoyed farming, gardening, going to the drag races, muscle cars, John Deere tractors, and most likely, if you couldn't find him around the house, he was out tinkering in his garage. Raymond loved and cherished the time he spent with his family, especially the moments he spent with his grandson. He also enjoyed all the time he spent with his many friends. Always willing to lend a hand, Raymond will be greatly missed for his caring and adventurous ways. Funeral services will be held Thursday, July 3rd, 2014 at 1:00 pm at the Mt. Union Christian Church in Mench with Rev. Curtis Bryant officiating. Friends may call at Dalla Valle Funeral Service, Main Street, Everett, on Wednesday from 4:00 to 8:00 pm and at the Church on Thursday from 11:00 am until the hour of service and share memories online at www.dallavalle-everett.com. Burial will be held at Everett Cemetery. Memorial contribution may be made in memory of Ray to the American Cancer Society or to the JDRF (Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation.)
