Rebecca M. (Miller) Calhoun

Rebecca M. Calhoun, 92, of Charlesville, was called home to be with the Lord on Monday, October 15th, 2012. She was born Saturday, June 12th, 1920 in at her family home in Snake Spring Township, a daughter of the late Roy Miller and Ada O. (Richey) Miller. On September 17th, 1939 she married Coy W. Calhoun who passed away on February 2nd, 1994. She is survived by their three daughters, Bonita J. May and husband William H. May, of Charlesville B. Gail Hillegass and husband Evan Hillegass, of Jacksonville, Florida Diane S. Chalfont, of Charlesville, two sons, Darrel E. Calhoun and wife Kaye (Wenglik) Calhoun, of Lorain, Ohio George W. Calhoun, and wife Anna (Farris) of Akron, Ohio 12 grandchildren 18 great grandchildren 7 great great-grandchildren three sisters, Miriam Kent, of Lodi, Ohio Eleanor England, of Everett Mary Burkett, of Everett and many loving cousins, nieces, nephews and their families. She was preceded in passing away by 3 daughters, Karen Lesh, Cindy Calhoun, Sandra Calhoun, a brother Kenneth Miller, a granddaughter, a grandson, and a great grandson. Mrs. Calhoun was a lifelong member of the Snake Spring Valley Church of the Brethren. Earlier in her lifetime she worked with her family at their Snake Spring Valley farm, and after her marriage to Coy, worked with him to operate their own farm. She then worked at Lion Manufacturing in Everett as a hand seamstress for over 43 years until retiring. At home Rebecca enjoyed quilting, having won quite a few Blue Ribbons with her quilting skills, and was an avid fan of the Pittsburgh Pirates who enjoyed watching their games each season. Always willing to lend a hand, or inviting her entire family home for the holidays or special events, she will be greatly missed for the fellowship and good times she made possible for so many. Funeral services will be held Saturday, October 20th, 2012 at 11:00 am in the Chapel at Dalla Valle Funeral Service, Main Street, Everett, with Rev. Paul Claycomb officiating. Friends may call at the funeral home on Friday from 4:00 to 8:00 pm, on Saturday from 10:00 am until the hour of service and share memories online at www.dallavalle-everett.com. Burial will be held at Ritchey Cemetery.
