Richard A. Klahre, 71, of Clearville, was called home to be with the Lord on Saturday, September 29, 2012. He was born December 22, 1940 at Dr. D.R. Sipes Hospital in Everett, a son of the late Theodore V. Klahre and Madeline J. (Pepple) Klahre. On October 9th, 1969 in College Park, Georgia he married Beatrice "Mickie" (Smith) Klahre who passed away on March 14th, 2000. He is survived by his stepdaughters, Charlene Lovett and husband Jimmie Lovett, of Liberty, Kentucky Tania D. Neal and husband Clifton Neal, of Ringgold, Georgia 4 grandchildren, Tia D. Faulk, Chris D. Lovett, Codi Heather Neal, Trina Smith; a great granddaughter Jaclyn, 5 great grandsons, Christopher, Derek, Brandon, Dale, and Trevor a brother Harold L. Klahre and wife Terry (Conway) Klahre, of Rutherford, New Jersey 2 nieces, Kay Aprea and T.J. Hirsch and 5 great nieces and nephews, T.J., Lorelai, Hannah, Scott, and Julia, and a step son-in-law, Craig Clay of Palm Coast, Florida. He was preceded in passing away by his stepdaughter Neva J. Clay. Richard was an active and supportive member of the Cherry Lane Church of the Brethren where he served as Church Treasurer, gladly prepared the bulletins for the Sunday services, and also help with the maintenance and care of the church.. He was a graduate of Everett Southern Joint High School, Class of 1959 and attended the Art Institute of Pittsburgh. He then served in the United State Marine Corps as a Corporal E4 at Camp Lejeune during the Vietnam War and the Cuban Missile Crisis with the Second Battalion Communications office. After his service to his country, Richard lived in Georgia and Florida working at various jobs until accepting a position as a data processor and programmer for Koppers Inc. in Pittsburgh, continuing his career with Johnstown Savings Bank until retiring. At home Richard enjoyed target practice and working on his home, and reading Western fiction novels, historical and science fiction, poetry and short-story collections by Louis L'Amour. An appreciative man who was willing to help anyone he knew, Richard will be greatly missed for his giving and caring ways. Funeral services will be held Wednesday, October 3rd, 2012 at 11:00 am in the Chapel at Dalla Valle Funeral Service, Main Street, Everett, with Pastor Eleanor Fix officiating. Friends may call at the funeral home on Tuesday from 4:00 to 8:00 pm, on Wednesday from 10:00 am until the hour of service and share memories online at www.dallavalle-everett.com. Burial will be held at Everett Cemetery. Full military honors will be conducted by the Everett Honor Guard. Memorial contribution may be made in memory of Richard to the Cherry Lane Church of the Brethren.
